Favorite running shoes?
Hello all,
I am planning to be entering the world of running (okay, jogging, but still :)), and I was wondering if anyone had any favorite brands/styles...I've heard that there are different styles for cushioning, motion control, trail running, etc. and I was just wondering where some of the larger-sized runners out there started their hunt for good shoes, and what type of shoes they had success with? Thanks for any input- |
The sticky on shoe advice should help:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/exer...oe-advice.html The overall consensus is that everyone is different and your best bet is to get fitted at a running store. My current shoe is the Nike Free which I love but I tend to do good in Nikes and Brooks. |
Just bought a pair of Saucony Pro 3 from a running store. Best investment EVER!!!! No more pain in my achilles tendon...woo hoo!
It's true that you NEED to be fitted at a real running store (no footlocker or such). They will direct you to the sneakers that will correct your particular "gait". |
New Balance is overall my favorite and I am badly IN NEED of a new pair. I went last week and the one I picked out is all sold out in my size! Boohoo!

Thanks for pointing me to the sticky...I gotta remember to check first instead of just posting a new thread when it pops in my head :)

Everyone is different, but I love my Asics Gel Kayano. They were a little pricey @ 130$, but have been well worth it.
|
I also love New Balance and Reebok runners. I am wearing a pair of reebox runners and wouldn't go back to anything other than New Balance.

Running shoes are very much a personal preference. I do not like Asics or New Balance at all. Nike, Adidas, and Mizuno are okay but not great. My feet really love Saucony and Brooks. I currently wear Brooks Ghost.
Go to a running store; they will do a complete analysis and make several recommendations. Be prepared to spend a good bit of money for a quality shoe. Make sure to ask about the store's return/exchange policy because what feels perfect in the store could be horrible after a 3 mile run. The store I go to allows exchanges up to 30 days from purchase no matter how many miles you've put on the shoe. |
When I started doing C25K, I didn't (and frankly, still don't!) have enough money to go drop even $50+ dollars on a pair of shoes. Period. I saw these at Wal-Mart and decided to try them (though I didn't know until I looked them up just now that they were "toning". They don't seem like toning shoes to me). They're actually FANTASTIC. Especially for $25.00. Just my thrifty two cents.

A last is a form in the approximate shape of a human foot, used in shoemaking to produce the fit of a shoe.
