Default i work out and gain weight??

I joined a gym two weeks ago and have been working out. In fact, my muscles are adjusting to working out and aren't sore anymore and I'm not out of breath after jogging on the tredmill. But I lost a few pounds and gained it back plus a pound more than I started with. My diet hasn't completely changed, but should I still be losing some pounds? I do cardio and that shoulf burn fat. I know I probably gained muscle, but I want to lose weight. Do I justnot do strength training so much?

I get what you are saying about water weight. i actually never understood that w3hen I would hear people say that. I'm trying to kick the bad habit of eating out of boredom.Not doing the best with that. i'm mostly bored at work. But I always want to eat right after the gym

How do your clothes feel? You can put on muscle & weigh more but still be shrinking physically because your BMI might be changing. Do you think this is a possibility? Plus I think sometimes working out causes temporary water gain because of the lactic acid building up and your body trying to flush it out.

Yeah that happened to me too. Irritating as all heck!
I do have the consolation that my inches are going down! YAY

Try measuring. You have probably just moved things around and toned up

I think that working out, increasing your water needs. So you drink more water, and your newly-being-used muscles start drinking it up like crazy.. thus, water weight?

Don't stop strength training!
Your muscles will retain water as they are repairing and building themselves. BUT - are you tracking what you eat? Are you eating more because you are exercising? It doesn't take very much to eat back the calories burned while exercising.

It's water weight, that's all. Muscle fibers tear during strength training and fill with water to repair. It's physiology.

It's not muscle gain after 2 weeks - it takes months, years, for females to build lean muscle. However, it is not fat.

I find that working out alot makes me hungry so I eat more and gain weight. Watch every bite to make sure you didn't up your calories to meet the extra expenditure. Activiy makes your body scream, "feed me!" It doesn't take a big diet change to shift your weight a couple lbs. OR it could be water!

diet and sodium intake. reduce your calories and sodium intake and you will see results. too early to gain muscle weight.

I feel your pain. When I eat less, I lose weight - slowly, but consistently. Whenever I work up the motivation to start working out again, the scale stops moving for at least a week or two, in spite of staying perfectly on plan (I don't eat more calories on days I work out, but I do tend to drink more water). I'm still working on overcoming this aversion to exercise (I don't like anything that stops the scale )...but I'm working on creating some athletic related goals, so that even if the scale goes through a very long pause, I can reach other goals in the meantime. I'm moving to Washington DC in the summer, and I'd love to jog the National Mall area regularly - right now, I can't jog or run to save my life - so I'm planning on working towards that
