I am starting a gym tomorrow at 5:30am...should I eat before or after I go? And if so, any suggestions as to what I should be eating? If before, I will be eating at 5am...and if after, probably about 7am...any help would be great! Thanks!
You will want to eat 30-45 minutes before exercising, and you should try to have a little carbs & a little protein. You will have to kind of play around with what food will work best for you. Honestly I usually have a peanut butter sandwich, and if I'm lifting I then have a protein shake post work out
I sometimes work out at 5:30am as well. I don't eat anything before I go and then have a normal (for me) breakfast when I get home (just after 7am). That could be toast with peanut butter & honey, or muesli & yoghurt etc.
I will usually have a small snack about 9:30 and then another about 11:00am and lunch around 1pm.
When I work out early I never eat, I have a coffee and go. But everyone is different. Try working out with no food, if it doesn't work for you, then you're the type that needs food before an early morning workout. Having said this, when I workout later during the day I do definitely need food about 45-60 mins before my workout...
