Default I know adding more exercise is not the anwer.

I guess im just venting. Today was the Thanksgiving luncheon at work and I had too much. I know that even if I just do my regularly schedule 35 minute run today that I wont go over my daily maintenence.. (meaning I still had a deficit in my favor) but I want to go to the gym and get on the bike after to burn even more so I can be on goal.

I know it's not the answer and tomorrow should just be a new day but how can I feel better about over eating today.

Yep. It was just one day, and one day will not ruin everything. Exercise as usual today and drink lots of water to help flush out all the salt that's in that holiday food.

I don't think a little extra activity is out of line after eating heavier, but it can certainly also cross the line into some form punishment or purging. You're definitely right to just pick up and keep going with your next choice if that feels healthy!

I try to use my mistakes as motivation to choose differently next time, instead of trying to "fix" them in some way. Somehow, knowing I'll have to live with the consequence (slower loss, more hunger, feeling bloated, whatever) is more of a deterrent than the prospect of extra exercise .

Yeah, I agree totally with this.

I have decided to put in an extra 15 mins or so of exercise each day this week - just a little extra weight lifting and a few more minutes on the elliptical - because I know I'm going to indulge on Thanksgiving day. But I'm not going to punish myself or do something unreasonable like hours and hours.

It's all in being reasonable.
