Default Question for Bike Riders (stationary bike) - help please!

I am having an exercise problem and I'm hoping you can give me some advice. Whenever I ride my exercise bike, my left foot falls asleep and starts hurting towards the end of my ride. I'm not sure if I need to adjust the seat back (or forward) or if this is just a function of not having worked out for a while. Any of you have this problem?

This is going to sound so silly because it's such a terribly obvious solution (one you've probably tried) but anyhow...

Whether I'm on the stationary bike or moving bike, it occasionally happens. It could be a matter of the seat, but for me the remedy is to remember to reposition my feet often, every 5 minutes or so - double check that they're still in proper position.

Isn't that silly?

Hi FB,
I haven't been here in months, so busy, but I hope my response helps you!

I don't know if we're talking about the same thing, but I find when I'm doing cardio, whether it's aerobics or stationary bike, elliptical, whatever, my feet get pins and needles and go numb.

I went to a podiatrist earlier this year and mentioned it to her and she said it's a common problem.

There is a growth of tissue that commonly occurs between the bones in the foot, kind of in the middle. Something to do with the metatarsal (sp?) region. That's what's affecting the feeling in my feet anyway. She said it starts as a small problem, but gets worse with age, causing more pain and inconvenience. She gave me a small adhesive pad which sits in my work shoes, pressing on the area between the ball of my feet, and the arch. It helps to spread the bones of the feet out so they don't rub together and inflame the lump.

Sounds gross, but might be something to think about. Hope I've helped

I have the same problem and I wear orthotics to help the numbness in my feet that began when I started running, it also does it when I bike. I love my orthotics which I had made after I visited my foot specialist...

Properly fitted shoes that aren't tied too tight might help some people who don't have the above problem. Also check if you use straps or cages to hold your feet on the bike that they aren't too tight.
