A Funny Thing Happened While Doing My Taebo;

I like Taebo, but if you can visualize my kicking, and making my moves with a 16 month old, 2 year old, a 4 year old and a 7 year old all looking on like I have lost my marbles, they figure Grandma has gone over the edge. I have them most days too, and by the time they take a nap, I'm ready for one also. So my husband and I get up an hour earlier and walk at least 30 minutes. I hope I can keep it up, I know my husband has bad knees, and besides the treadmill or stationary bike, he's kind of limited to what he can do. He seems to be adapting to walking though,I'll admit some mornings are harder then others to get out of bed. Judy

t-girl 04-14-2002 10:45 PM

hey Judy, I know what you mean, My baby looks at me like, what the heck is she doing??( he is 15 months) My DH is always laughing at something, so I do it when he is at work. Walking is very good. I try to incorporated that, with weights and tae bo. what level are you using?? I am still on basic . plan to go up soon.

Is anyone using tae bo 2?

Keep me posted on your progress Judy, ok

Latisia

t-girl 04-16-2002 02:28 PM

Moving up.. I am going to go to advanced soon, keep saying it, need to do it, what kind of floor exercises does it involve??

stay strong

Hi Back To You;

Hi Latisia, Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. It's been a crazy week. I can sympathize with you, my husband not only thinks anything but walking is crazy, but he doesn't support my trying to keep a lid on my weight problem either. Of course that doesn't stop me, but it makes it harder because I have nobody to really discuss the issues with. Well enough of that, the one thing I love about taebo is that I use muscles I forgot I had. I'm in the lower one but, I think I could probably move up. I also try to do yoga a few times a week to keep up my flexibility, and weights to keep up a decent bone density level. I think my hardest hurdle I have right now is portion control. I drink more water, and try to stay focused on what is a serving size. I try not to obsess about it, as long as I am exercising, but it is still easy for me to over do. Keep up the good work, and please keep me posted also. (((IN Health))) Judy

t-girl 04-18-2002 12:43 AM

Hello there, glad to hear from you again. I agree with you on the husband issue to, Mine says, I am not ready to stop, I will cut out he kool aid, then he wants to do whatever!! I have to beg him to walk with me, and tae bo, I would never see him try!! I am going to show him though, and he will regret he didnt join earlier!!Lol Tae bo is great!! I am so glad to have that tape, I am on basic too. I want to buy tae bo 2.. My son was not feeling good, teething, so I didnt get to it. I will though, next week. just stick to basic this week. I really love the fact that every time I do it, I come out sweaty and just feeling revived. it isnt long either. Such a intense workout, that can be built on, or brought down if you need to!! Hey wanna try tae bo 2, and see how it is?? we can discuss that too. well talk to you later, Keep it up!! YOu will see results!!

Latisia

JudyMH 04-19-2002 01:36 PM

Hi Back o You;

Hi Latisia, Bob will walk with me, but nothing else. of course he has bad legs so maybe that explains a little of his hesitation. I probably will rent Tae Bo 2 then if I like it will see if I can get it from amazon.com. Hope your baby is feeling better. I know both Hunter and Bruce were sick most of the winter. The baby is in constant hyper active hyperdrive. He just cut a back tooth. Keep up the good work (((In Health))) Judy

t-girl 04-19-2002 11:29 PM

Hey, how was your day( my DH, wouldnt even to agree to walk, and he has no leg problems>>>) I went to Hastings intending to find tae bo 2, but it wasnt in stock there so I got tae bo crunch.. It was pretty fast, and the movements had less reps. I will try it again . I would rather try tae bo 2 perhaps?? when do you plan to rent it. Let me know how it goes, I am going to the px next week, I know they have it there.. My baby did pretty good, was a little cranky this am, gave him some tylenol, and he was happy:) well have a good night, and talk to you tommorrow..

ellis 04-20-2002 09:07 AM

Hi Latisia and Judy... do you mind if I jump in?

I love tai bo!! I started doing it a few years ago and lost about 15 pounds. I'm fortunate ... my husband loves it, too, and we do it together.
I'm not sure of the names (the tapes are upstairs, and I'm lazy at the moment), but we've got 5 or 6 of the tapes. We used to do a one hour tape... it was great, but I just couldn't find the time for it, so we started doing a 20 minute workout. It's great... it's fast and I really got a good workout.
I haven't done it for a few months, but I'd like to start again. I just need a little push. I've got 50 pounds to lose, and I know the tai bo would really help.

Have a wonderful day... keep up the good work!

Scheduling Time;

Hi Ellis, I just got on to Tae Bo last fall. My husband has bad knees so couldn't do it if he wanted to. He thinks the whole thing is crazy anyway. He supports walking and we do 6 mornings a week, but he doesn't support the other things I do, such as the running or Tae Bo or portion control. That is the hardest thing for me to do, is staying within a serving. The hardest thing you will find is scheduling time to do the tape, because we all get busy. What I do is schedule a time I'm going to do it and it is not negotiable, otherwise I wouldn't. Good luck you can do it. (((IN Health))) Judy

JudyMH 04-20-2002 08:37 PM

Hi Latisia, My day has been hectic. I think I pulled a muscle in my leg. It hurts to walk. I think I will try stretching it out. I didn't find a copy of Tae Bo 2 so I ended up ordering a copy from amazon.com. So when I get it I'll have to let you know. I also ordered The Wiggles for the kids. Bob says I spoil them too much, but they are only little once. Hang in there, I'm sure some days are worse then others being motivated,I know it gets that way for me. Keep me posted on your progress. (((In Health))) Judy

t-girl 04-20-2002 09:49 PM

Hey everyone, Welcome Ellis, and I hope you continue to post ,and let us know your progress?? What tapes do you normally use?? Hey Judy, sorry to hear about the pulled muscle, hope it gets better for you soon..:) today is my weights day, so I am going to get at that, had company so, i missed it this morning. I lost 3 pounds in the past week and i am really motivated.. It will be gone sure enough.. well talk to you all later. let me know about those tapes, and your progress

Latisia

JudyMH 04-23-2002 10:49 AM

Hi Latisia, My pulled muscle is doing fine. Bob and I took a walk both yesterday and today. I did Tae Bo yesterday, and today I am trying to talk myself into going for a run. The day is still young though so I should be able to get it in. Tomorrow Will be Tae Bo and Thursday will be another running day and so forth.I have read it is good to diversify when you get a certain age. I usually take Sundays off. I am finally seeing the results of my efforts though, I am at least toning up. I try to stay within a certain calorie range, but it is higher then it would be if I sat on my behind and did nothing. Hope your baby successfully has cut his teeth, talk to you soon, Judy

ellis 04-23-2002 11:27 AM

Hi Latisia and Judy

I'm still here... haven't made it upstairs yet to look at the names of those tapes yet, but I will! ;) My computer is on the main floor, and our bedroom (and the tapes) is on the third floor.

Judy, you're smart to schedule a time for your tai bo, and "just do it". You're right, it's the only way. Surely I can fit in a 20 minute workout! You run as well... lucky you. I ran for 10 years and loved it, but I don't know if my knees can take it anymore.

Latisia, you lost 3 pounds! Good for you! Your little one is teething... poor darling. My 6 year-old son has his first loose tooth, and my 13 year-old daughter has just lost another one. It seems like they never stop falling out of her mouth! :dizzy:

My husband and I just went for a 15 km bike ride. I was "dying" all the way, but I did it! I think next week I'm going to make a real effort to fit in a tai bo work-out. And I've got to stop stuffing food in my mouth.

take care... have a wonderful day!

JudyMH 04-24-2002 05:31 PM

Hi Latisia, I was able to talk myself in to a run yesterday, ended up going to the ymca. Today was a Tae Bo day. Haven't got my other Tae Bo tape yet. Thankyou for the words of encouragement, it seems that it is coming off very slowly.Ellis how are you doing? Have you got your tapes down from upstairs yet? Sometimes it is hard to get motivated. Nobody knows that better then me. You can do it, and we'll keep encouraging one another. Sometimes it's hard to find the time. Keep me posted on your progress, (((In Health))) Judy

t-girl 04-25-2002 11:06 AM

JudyMH 04-27-2002 10:40 PM

Hi Latisia, Sorry I haven't had the time to respond to you. The last couple of days have been crazy. I haven't gotten my other Tae Bo tape yet I sure am looking forward to it though. It should be coming any day now they were supposed to ship it on the 22nd. The kids got their Wiggles tape though. Congratulations on your weight loss, I know you can achieve the shape you want to be in. I walked for an hour this morning before breakfast, decided to wimp out on the rest of it. Actually I have started to notice a difference in me too, some of my clothes are fitting me better. If we keep on doing what we can, who knows we will actually be in decent shape for summer(((SMILE))). You are doing a good job kiddo keep up the good work, Judy

JudyMH 04-27-2002 10:55 PM

Hi Ellis, How are you doing? Have you had a chance to look at your tapes yet? Sometimes I find I get so busy I have good intentions, and they never get off the ground. But then I am a procrastinator. My knees started bothering me too, so I had to get a special kind of shoes. I didn't get anything in but walking today though, and tomorrow is my day off. I'm not sure whether I've taken off more weight or inches, but my clothes seem to fit better, I'm really kind of glad that some progress has been made anyway. Like I told Latisia my Tae Bo 2 tape hasn't come yet, but it should get here any day. Let me know how you are coming, we can make it one day at a time. (((Blessings))) Judy

t-girl 04-28-2002 03:22 PM

Hey there, Judy, I agree with you about results. We are gonna see some changes soon. AN hour walk is great!! Walking is so beneficial, I love it!! I will be glad to hear about how you like the tae bo tapes, I really enjoy them!!Ellis, how are you doing?? Hope all is welll!! I still have to do my tae bo today I woke up late, and had a few places to go before it got too hot. but I will do it before i lay down tonight.. Keep up the work !! and we will see some good changes!!!
Latisia

JudyMH 04-29-2002 10:28 AM

Hi Latisia, You are right, we are going to see some great results and accomplish our goals. I can't wait to see the video I ordered,it should be coming any day. Tomorrow is my Tae Bo day, today I modified my running, and enjoyed the experience for the first time. I guess I was going about it the wrong way. I'll bet Texas gets hot this time of year. My ex in laws moved to Texas up near Mexico somewhere. They seem to like it. Keep up the good work, and please keep me posted on your progress. Judy

t-girl 04-29-2002 03:29 PM

Hey there!! I will keep you informed. You are right about he heat, we are approaching the 90's now. Last year, when i was in the military, I h ad to drag my son in and out of it. He got real sick too. SO now, I am being real careful about exposing him to those temperatures.!! We are going to cool out today.. Hey I did my tae bo 2 last night, felt great... Cant wait til you get them.. talk to you l ater!! ( I did my am walk today before it got too hot)

Latisia

JudyMH 04-30-2002 07:52 PM

Hi Latisia, It's a warm one today. We haven't hit 90 but I think it feels like we at least hit 80. I still haven't got my tape yet,I don't know what is taking them so long. Got up at the crack of dawn, and took my walk today, and did Tae Bo when the boys took their naps. I feel pretty energetic. otherwise then that nothing new is going on here. I read something the other day about slipping back into comfortable old habits. I find myself wanting to do that, as far as my eating habits are concerned. Even though obviously it wasn't working for me, it's like I have to keep reminding myself why I am doing what I'm doing. Do you have harder days then others? You sound like you are doing a great job, keep up the good work. Judy

Tigerlily 05-01-2002 01:50 PM

Hi. I've been doing Tae Bo also. I have Tae Bo Junior. I do it with my boys. They get a little rowdy, but it makes each work out an adventure. I checked out a Tae Bo DVD from the library to try out. It had instruction, basic, advance and 8 minute workout all on one DVD. I actually like Tae Bo Junior better, and I'm hardly a junior!:)

t-girl 05-01-2002 03:31 PM

Hey all, and Welcome Tigerlily! How is the junior?? Glad you are enjoying it!! Sorry your tapes havent come yet, Judy, I wonder why it hasnt come too!! Oh, and yes, I do have my slip ups, I have to go back and look at my old picture on the fridge to zap back to reality, of no, it wont work to go back and eat this and that..I didnt tell you about Monday, I am on a lowfat eating plan, And i made this low fat cheesecake, It was sooooooyummy, and I could not stop snacking on it that night. SO I wake up the next day knowing I had made the wrong move!! I went and trashed it.. Was kinda hard last night but I had to keep that image of myself in mind! Well just keep at it, we all have our bad days!! Well talk to you all later. Ellis, where are ya?? Hope all is well!

Latisia

Tigerlily 05-01-2002 04:10 PM

Hi Latisia. Tae Bo Junior is a good workout when your are starting from "out of shape" and I like the idea of getting the kids involved. Although, I imagine I will be needing something more challenging in a few weeks. I've been doing it for 2 weeks and not keeping up with the "double time" parts yet! I just keep my own pace. I've also been following Bob Greene's Get With The Program. It's nice 'cause it kinda eases you into the program.
Sherri

JudyMH 05-01-2002 11:45 PM

Hi Sherri, If you don't mind my butting in, I just wanted to say that you should exercise at a level comfortable for you. My all time favorite fitness person has always said to modify so you are exercising at your fitness level. It sounds like good advice, so that is what I do and it seems to work out. It's good you can get your kids involved, my grandsons don't know what they think of grandma exercising like that. So if you can involve them you should. Keep up the good work, Judy

JudyMH 05-02-2002 12:00 AM

Hi Latisia, I finally got my Tae Bo tapes. I looked at them today, but wont do them until tomorrow. They look challenging, but I know if I work with them I will get the hang of it. I think a low fat diet is the way to do it. I went on McDougal diet for awhile. It did good, but I wasn't able to stick with it. Good to hear from you and I will let you know how I do with the Tae Bo tapes, Judy

kcsmom9 05-02-2002 10:14 AM

I LOve Tae Bo

I do tae bo at least twice aweek with my other workouts. I love the basic and advanced workouts. My son has the tae bo for kids video and it's a good workout for me too. Ican't wait to get the new tapes.

Tigerlily 05-02-2002 11:59 AM

Hi. Are you gals doing the Tae Bo Live or Tae Bo Original? I like the style of the kids tae bo. It's relaxed and casual in a way. The Original that I checked out from the library...well, it was hard to look past his leotard. I guess I'm more of a tshirt and shorts kinda gal. :)
Has anyone signed up for the inspirational email from the Tae Bo web site?
I sure do hope I can loose some pounds and shape up doing this. I'll hardly be ready for shorts, but some cute capris would be nice!

JudyMH 05-02-2002 05:31 PM

Hi to both of you and welcome. I just got thru doing Tae Bo 2 since the boys were asleep. The baby didn't sleep very long and Bruce is still sleeping. It was quite a work out, but I'll get use to it. You are both wise to start out on the kids video and work up from there. Especially since you are able to involve the kids. I always have to take the difficult road. Tomorrow is my running day so I won't do Tae Bo again until Saturday. Then Sunday I take the day off. I also walk six days a week, mostly for my hubby. I also try to do weights a couple days a week, some weeks are better then others. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress. ((In Health)) Judy

t-girl 05-02-2002 11:07 PM

Hey everyone! Glad to see all the posting!! Welcome, ksmom!! I agree with what Judy is saying start with what works, and build yourself up gradually. You dont want to over exert or exhaust your body, so you ladies are on the right track!! Once you can get past those double times easier, then you probably should move up.. Just take your time enjoy the workout, the benefits will come!!
Ksmom hello, how long have you been doing the tae bo, ?? when do you plan to get the new tapes, sounds great that you are doing it consistently!!

I do tae bo original, on tae bo 2, like Judy, basic, It is challenging Judy, but it really motivates me to just do it, and do more, and improve each time!! I cant wait until you do the other tape too!! It is quite a workout, Tommorrow, I will walk, then do tae bo again.. I was thinking of signing for the inspirational e mail have you?? Well I will post my progress tommorrow, and hope youall do the same!! Stay motivated!! We can do this.

Latisia

JudyMH 05-04-2002 01:47 PM

Hi all, Can you believe the weekend is finally here. I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night but got up my usual time and ran. I couldn't get into it but did it anyway with less enthusiasm. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a magic fitness pill that a person could take on the days we just don't feel like it(ha ha). Yesterday was my Tae Bo day. I did pretty well but modified it to fit my level. Form is everything, so I made sure my form was correct. How are you doing Ellis? Haven't heard from you in a while. Went to a garage sale today, and the lady was selling all her fitness tapes and records. I asked her about it, and she said she wasn't going to be doing anything like that anymore, that she had her fitness level to where she was comfortable with it and didn't think she had to exercise anymore. Poor misinformed person, she doesn't realize that after a month she will notice the difference. Less then that probably. Hope everything is going well with everyone else, will keep you posted on my progress. ((In Health)) Judy

t-girl 05-04-2002 03:58 PM

Hey Judy, you did pretty good though, running after very little sleep, that was a good start. That person selling all her workout tapes really doesnt know!! She will regret that soon like you said,, . Well , I have l ost another 1.5 pounds, but had a busy day with my son teething and friend popping by , so I missed my workouts, going to do it today..tae bo and weights, then walk tomorrow.. Hope all is well, and yes, form is Everything Judy, I agree with you on that, esp with tae bo!!

;)

Hey, everyone. I'm glad to see that there is a tye-bo site. I was doing the tapes sporadically. But now I have lost a lot of motivation to do any type of exercise. How do you guys motivate to do the tapes on a regular basis?

:dizzy:

If you have any motivational advice . . . let me know. Thanks.
