I have the worst blister on the big toe of my right foot. It's been so hard to run, and I don't want to start slacking on my workout routine. Anyone have any suggestions on how to treat it or help it heal faster??? It's killing me!
I drain my big blisters. I usually wait until the next day, partly because right after running it seems to be harder to drain them and partly because they'll sometimes go down enough overnight that I won't have to do anything with them.
I also try to make sure that I've got a couple of days before I'm due for a long run just to make sure I'm not aggravating the skin.
On the side of prevention, have you checked to make sure your shoes are fitting properly? You can also get anti-blister socks and you can use Body Glide on your feet.
Definitely drain it, its hard to say this but you should stay off of it, you might make it worst. Try a stationary bike its probably easier on your toe. My fiance has the worst blisters when he works out too. I have recently learned that when you jog/run, you should land on your heal rather than the ball of your foot. Also try to wear some socks with cushion to help prevent them, maybe some new shoes.
I am blister prone. I get them when I work out, I get them when I wear flip-flops, I get them when I wear a pair of sandals that aren't super soft. My feet are horribly sensitive. The socks REALLY help.
I used to use it when I lived in the PNW and hiked all the time. Drain the blister, but don't peel the loose skin off. Just puncture it with a sterile needle, pat it down, and protect it. Don't let it rub or it'll get infected.
And use moleskin on those areas where your shoes rub. It'll help a lot.
