Default Newbie at 3FC

Hey guys, I'm a newbie here, but definitely not to dieting. I've been "dieting" since I was about 12.

I've tried unsuccessfully MANY times, but this time, I've been going strong for 4 months and lost a total of 25 pounds. I haven't included any weight training into my routine, as I'm TERRIFIED to work with the big muscly guys at the gym. Also, I have no idea what I'm doing. I do the elliptical 3 times a week, if not more for about 35 minutes. I'm averaging at about 1200-1300 calories a day at 170 lbs. Am I doing OKAY? Does anyone sense maybe some sort of weight loss stagnation some time soon? I'm just noticing its getting harder to get the weight off.

I've never had anyone in my life struggle with their weight, so at times its hard to get real responses...not just an article I read on a website.

Any response will be greatly appreciated

Roseann

Welcome! It seems that the calories seem a little low, but perhaps it's just me. I know that your Resting Metabolism slows as you lose weight, so you may have to just move more. You've made great progress and I think it's wonderful. I was worried about going to the gym with big muscly people too, but I found a no-frills gym (Cardinal Fitness) that suits me just fine. There are people of all shapes and sizes in there and I feel quite at home. Perhaps there is a gym out there that would also suit you?
