Default Iliotibial Band / IT Band Syndrome

Calling all personal trainers...

I've aggravated my IT band by trail running too many miles. It's causing pain in my left hip and knee. I've cut WAY back on my miles and am stretching a lot more and strength training my legs and butt much more. I'm currently training for a triathlon and am focusing more on biking, swimming, weight lifting and yoga and less on running until my IT band calms down.

Anyway, any advice for specific stretches or exercises I can be doing to rehab? I want to start running more miles but I don't want to push too hard too fast.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I had some symptoms of ITB (didn't go to a doctor though... I'm bad). I got a foam roller and it helped TREMENDOUSLY. Now, I barely get sore when I run even long distances. They're $10-$20, so not too pricey, and I love mine!
