Hello everyone who has done this before, and people wanting to start for the New Year. Think of a target for the month, and log your miles towards it on this thread. You can run or walk them, choose to do as many or as few as you want, and you'll get plenty of encouragement along the way.
This ear I've decided to up my monthly target to 135 running miles. I've managed that in four of the past five months so I think it's realistic, and not too much of an increase.
I got off to a good start - 8 miles this morning in heavy drizzle. It didn't look like it was raining too much when I set off, but I was absolutely soaked when I got back.
Happy New Year Everyone!!!
My accomplishments for the day so far has been getting all my calendars organized and printed. Thankfully, the children's activities seem to be less this month. We actually have every Tues and Thurs "activity" free. That hasn't happened in months. 3 Sat we have to be in 3 different places, at the same time, for the children and 1 Sat we have to be in 4. I'm not always sure how, but we manage!!!
Setting my goal at 75 miles this month. I'm a little nervous about it, because with the children's schedule changes I will have to walk on Sun because there will be no time on Sat and Sun is usually an off day. But I have to fit real life into my exercise life.
Good luck to all getting started in the new year.
Goal for January: 50 miles (part walking part running)
I'll continue my morning 2 mile runs (3x/wk) and DH and I will continue our 3-5 mile walk/run on Sundays and we'll be ADDING a mile walk each night after dinner (I'll strive for 4x/wk).
I'd love to join this! I am actually working on the cool running program and walk with my dogs every day- so I will be doing a combo. of walking and running!
I would like to join this challenge. I am new to this site and a major walker. I want to walk more miles than I am currently doing.
My goal is 80 miles for this month. I plan on walking 4 miles per session, 5 times a week.
How do you all keep track of your miles when you walk outside on the sidewalk? I find them easy to track on the treadmill, but not so much when I walk to the store.

There are some online map places that will plot your miles. Try this one:
I just finished 4 treadmill miles watching football ~ Angie ran the dogs for 3.5 miles.
Good to hear you have a new work-out buddy ALLISON!
New kids
My goal this week is to try and catch HELEN I will be really busy at work this month and some commute time may so I will be more realistic with my goal this month.
I'm going to increase 5 miles from last month, so 50 miles in my goal.
Last night, I did a 4 mile race that started at the stroke of midnight in Central Park. SO fun! I'll post a race report (with pics of me in my ridiculous costume) hopefully tonight or tomorrow.
