Default Clicking knee

I wasn't sure what forum to post this in but this seemed the most appropriate. I've never had trouble with my knees before, even when I was still doing ballet, yoga and belly dancing. Then, out of the blue, the other night we went on a bicycle ride and my right knee started clicking with every rotation of the pedal. Since then, it has started doing it when I bend my knee even just to cross my legs! I wouldn't say it's painful but it is uncomfortable and laying in bed last night, it was throbbing a bit.

I am planning on going to see the doctor this week but just wondered if anyone has any clue as to what it could be? It didn't feel like I had sustained an injury at the time it started clicking (which was pretty much as soon as I got on the bike!). My biggest form of exercise is walking so thankfully it hasn't progressed to the point of affecting that!

I have read the knee thread that was stickied up top but it didn't really answer my question(s). I'm afraid to try any of the knee strengthening exercises until I talk to my doc first, just to make sure there's no injury I might be aggravating.

It sounds like runner's knee to me, which is basically an inflammation of the kneecap. It can be caused by lots of things, like overexercise or poor form in exercise. I had the same problem last year and going to see a sports medicine therapist fixed me right up. (All I had to do was stop running so much, so I switched up my cardio routine with cardio that doesn't impact the knees as much.)

Anyway, I would avoid doing exercise that would exacerbate it until you see a specialist. Here's an okay article on it: http://www.healthsystem.virginia.edu...ics/runner.cfm

My knees click, crunch and make other assorted weird sounds. But they don't hurt at all. So I let them crunch.

The throbbing doesn't sound good to me.

My left knee has been clicking for months whenever I go upstairs. It started after I started losing weight, not when I was 202 pounds. I do moderate exercise, including walking and jogging, but I wouldn't call myself a runner. It doesn't hurt, though. I'm hoping it goes away as I lose weight. I've noticed over the years, though, that I tend to favor my left leg when I'm standing or walking and that when I exercise, that leg and knee tend to tire or ache first. It kind of feels strong and weak at the same time.

Like Anne my knees make all sorts of noises BUT they don't hurt...

I'd definitely see a doctor...
