Personally, I don't want to build up or shorten my thigh muscles, so I keep it on the the lowest resistance (it's a magnetic bike) and pedal quite fast. If you want to tone your butt and thighs you can vary the tension and feel that burn! I really like the effect on my thighs. I'm sure you'll get a lot out of it, Starburst1987.
