Hi Ellen Marie, I would highly recommend following the "couch to 5k" running program that you can find at coolrunning.com. I did this myself last fall, and it is a great way to start running. The earlier weeks will have you alternating running and walking, gradually increasing the amount of time that you are running, until you are running 5 kilometers. If you're not careful, you can overdo it and injure yourself, so following a program like this is a good way to ease into running safely.
