Default tendinitis + running = OW

I've got two bad ankles and a bad knee from playing basketball and soccer when I was a young, thin thing. and now, I still have the love of the game for lack of a better term.. but every time my feet hit the ground, it's like needles SHOOTING up my body.

so I'm now looking for a cardio workout that won't put my in surgery again, and it's darn near impossible to find an open pool this time of year that isn't $200 to join. does anyone have any suggestions or tips?

If you have access to an elliptical or cross-trainer, they are great for those of us with "used" knees.

I second the elliptical. Exercise bikes also work well for bad knees and ankles, especially the recumbent ones.
