YAY New Elliptical!!
After months of saving and with a little help from an angel from work, we've finally purchased our elliptical!!!
We were originally looking at a $190 machine. It was good, had a nice monitor and program... but it wasn't exactly the smoothest ride... but hey it was an exercise machine and I figured it would be worth it to purchase.
Well we ended up going back yesterday to buy it and found one that was MUCH nicer!!! It was $300... so we decided to splurge! I'm so excited to try it out!!
I'm going to be putting it together today after we finish wrapping gifts I'll let you know how it all works out

I've just finished putting it together... whew that was a workout in itself!!! Took me about 1.5 hours - it came in a kajillion little pieces!! ERG!
Hubby let me do it, he figured that he would get too frustrated with it and smash it LOL. He did help hold a piece so I could bolt it on, that was about it.
I like the sense of fulfillment when I can do a "man's" job... Man's job my arse
I suffered a couple of bruises (gd does it hurt when a heavy piece falls on your leg! OUCH!) and a scratch otherwise I'm very happy!

Tamaralynn,
Congrats on your new machine. I'm getting my elliptical delivered tomorrow if all goes right with the weather. Want to post together? Let me know. There was an exercise accountability thread but I guess people stopped posting with the busy holidays. Have a great night!

Thanks Did my first 15 minutes at the first tension level (No possible way I could have gone longer - I'm quite sure I'll be able to slowly increase it).
I did 4 km worth (about 3 miles). Quite different than walking... it's more like jogging

Congrats on your elliptical! Santa left us one also
The first day I used it for 25 minutes, and today I managed to keep it going for 30 minutes. I LOVE seeing the calories burned readout!
It's right by a window, i enjoy looking out the window, and having classic rock music on.
I hope to use it along with my aerobic/toning videotapes.
I would try my best to participate in an elliptical accountability thread

Congratulations on getting your Ellipticals, that is awesome. I know lots of people always say that once you buy them you use them for a while then quit well I bought my treadmill a few years ago and used it faithfully but had to move into a different room lost interest but since bringing it out again as my oldest son moved out this summer so it took over his room I have used it again faithfully well okay except the last week but I am back on track starting today because I am going to reach my mini goal by Jan 27th Vegas Baby here I come...

I'm up to 20 minutes - 10 minutes at highest resistance, then 10 at medium-high.
Boy do I sweat. If my legs are sore, I will turn it down to medium low or low and just go nuts.
I'll work my way up yet to longer times. heh

Congrats!
I know those read outs are exciting but please be cautious in what they say. 3 miles in 15min is a 5 min mile! if it counts steps or strides, 2000 is a mile and more accurate for distance.
Have fun. I love mine, I have had it for about 7 years and I wouldn't trade it for the world!

I have a precore I bought about 8 years ago. it is a home model and I have had it services 2 times in that time. It has held up well and my DH who is a "big guy" is fine on it. The kids ar old enough and big enough to use it too now so we all get to WO on it.
My feeling is get the best you can afford, it will hold up longer.

I just bought one yesterday from Costco...a fabulous, sturdy $1100 piece of equipment on sale for $699. It DID take 2 hours to put together, though! But so worth it. We'll pay it off with 8 months worth of gym-fees.

My mom and I use the Nordic Track elliptical. It's pretty awesome. They just came out with a space-saver version. They're so healthy for your joints, unlike jogging. I love my elliptical!
