Roast Sticky Chicken

  • This is a really easy, really tasty recipe.

    1 whole chicken (4 pounds)
    2 t salt
    1 t paprika
    1/2 t onion powder
    1/2 t dried thyme
    1/2 t white pepper
    1/4 t cayenne pepper
    1/4 t black pepper
    1/4 t garlic powder
    1 onion, quartered

    (1). In a small bowl, mix together all ingredients. Remove and disgard giblets from chicken. Rinse chicken cavity and pat dry with a paper towel. Rub chicken inside and out with spice mixture. Place onion into the cavity of chicken. Place chicken in a resealable bag or doule-wrap with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight or at least 4 to 6 hours.
    (2). Preheat oven to 250 F.
    (3). Place chicken in roasting pan. Bake uncovered for 5 hours. Let chicken stand for 10 minutes before carving.
  • Remember to remove the plastic wrap or bag before roasting! I had a husband once who cooked fish and chips in the cardboard box!

  • If possible, would you be able to modify the oven temp and time for chicken wings, drumsticks, or breasts? It sounds really good and low fat/low cal.
