Default Spicy Sauteed Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans) Recipe with Beef and Cilantro

I got this recipe from kalynskitchen.com and she suggest serving it with a tomato-cucumber salad for phase 1. I just made the 4 servings and divided it between two people with nothing else. It was pretty good. Next time I think I'm going to add some curry.

1/2 lb ground beef
2 cans chickpeas (drain and reserve liquid)
1 1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp chipotle chili powder
2 cloves garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 c finely chopped cilantro

Start to brown ground beef in a large skillet (3 minutes). When the beef is fairly broken up, add the 2 cans of drained chickpeas and cook on pretty high heat until the beef is completely browned and the chickpeas are starting to pop (10 min). Add the cumin, chipotle, and garlic and cook for another minute. Then add the liquid you drained off the chickpeas and salt and pepper and simmer until the liquid is mostly evaporated(5-10 min). Then turn off the heat and add the cilantro. Serve warm.

I didn't have any chipotle chili powder so I used chili powder and a little chipotle hot sauce. It had a nice heat to it.

Since I'm new to 3 Fat Chicks it won't let me add a link to her blog where I got the recipe, but if you search for it I'm sure you can find the original. Sorry about that.

I tried this last night, but used lentils instead of chickpeas (because my kids prefer lentils), and it was a hit! Thanks for the recipe.
