I'm sure not all LAWL centers are bad. . .but when I can substantiate the weird lack of medical people. When I was looking for a place to go for help with weight loss, I went in, and a "counselor" talked to me. He was someone who'd lost a lot of weight on the plan--and seemed shocked if he'd had any training or if he was also maybe attending nutrition classes. His comment was that you don't have to know that with this program because (i remember this so vividly) "we do the thinking for you. all you have to do is eat" and he mimed eating a big sandwich or something. I just remember thinking "oh sweetie, you picked the wrong approach for this girl--I like to think," and politely left and found a place where I got to see a real nutritionist. There was pressure to make a follow up appt, and I said I had an appt at a different place down the st. and would call if I decided to return, but said it in a really positive way.
No one was rude or anything, just not the level of experience/expertise I wanted to spen that much $$$ on.
As an aside, the place down the st--where I ended up--got a phone call from someone saying they were from another branch asking if I had signed up for a plan. . .but when they called the # back (b/c apparently that's not a normal policy for them), it was LAWL. Weird.
