Default Microdiet

Has anyone heard of microdiet, or microbiotic?

Any info?

I saw an ad here on TV and just wanted to know if it was in the US yet or not?

I don't know anything about this "diet" but I checked out their website and they promote the use of supplements, protein shakes, bars, and then other healthy food you can get in any grocery store. I think they are like Jenny Craig, where in the fact taht they want you to purchase the food, supplements, and shake mixes from them. Just as a money maker. Protein shakes sure they are good for you but I'm sure you can find the mix at a retailer for cheaper than they sell it.

The shake mix is 17.95 a can and you get a dollar off for each additional can you buy.
They are selling Meusli cereal for 12.95 a can!!! Thats outrageous!!

The plan itself doesnt seem too bad but you can do all this stuff yourself for cheaper If your grocery store has a nutrition department you can even find healthy low fat low cal frozen entrees there.

Default Thank you

That is what I thought, I was just wondering if anyone has heard of them? I was not sure to market them or test them in our magazine or not.

Thank you for the update.

Macrobiotic diets have been around for a LONG time. (found a website that kind of explains how it works - www.macrobioticmeals.com )

Totally different from the "Microdiet" which I agree sounds like something in the Jenny Craig/Nutrisystems vein.

I don’t know about Microdiet but I’ve lost a lot of weight on the Jenny Craig System. They don’t provide you with anything that you couldn’t duplicate in a standard grocery store (other then I personally think their frozen foods taste better) BUT from the moment I started I did not have to give another thought to what I was going to eat. I didn’t even remember what it was like to eat and not either feel guilty for eating or having to measure and count and stress about what I was eating. They removed all the pressure and I just relaxed and did what I was told. It was like having a chief taking care of my nutritional needs. After halfway they started working with me to transition to maintenance and by then I was ready to start taking charge of some of my meals. In about 20 lbs I will complete that transition and just report in for the next year to monitor my progress. The program is expensive, but the pressure they took off my shoulders was so well worth it. There are a lot of good diet programs available, this is the one that responded to my biggest problem which was stressing and worrying about what I was eating and getting back in touch with real portion sizes.

Good Luck on finding a program that is right for you,
