Default B12 and Lipotropic Injections

Alright, so..I've been researching reviews on B12 and Lipotropic injections. I actually purchased a Groupon to get these services done. I plan on going some time next week. I've read a lot of great reviews of people saying they lost a lot of weight by getting B12 and Lipotropic shots, but wanted to see if anyone in this forum has any experience with these injections? If so, I'd love to hear your story.

From our experience, they are on the verge of being a scam. B12 injections have been used for decades for those that don't absorb B12 in foods well, this is mostly the elderly and those with a genetic predisposition to malabsorption. If you suspect you are low on B12, I'd highly suggest getting a physical with a regular doctor and getting your B12 tested. It is a simple blood test. If you have low B12, you may feel low on energy but you may also start to notice brain fogginess.

An alternative that you can easily use is sublingual B-12 drops. It absorbs into your blood stream by being held under your tongue for a short amount of time.

B12 malabsorption is pretty rare in the under 60 crowd, so I'd not worry about it and avoid getting any shots unless you know you have an issue.

One caveat to that statement, low B12/B12 malabsorption is actually common in people who suffer from any bowel disorder, including gluten intolerance, IBS, Celiac, Crohn's, diverticulitis, colitis, etc.

And I only know that because I'm gluten intolerant, lucky me

But I'd still say it is rare and again, a reason to get blood tested. I actually eat very few B12 sources so I get tested but my results always come up normal/high.

similarly, i have low b12 and i think i have IBS. my doctor prescribed me oral supplements and they shot my numbers right back up again. i think the main cause is i don't eat a lot of b12 rich foods (and perhaps coupled with my supposed IBS). I second the thought that the shots are a scam, i think it's hooey.

My Dr told me we'd try the oral supplements and if that didn't work then we would move to shots because that meant i wasn't absorbing any B12 in my gut - to me it sounds shady to offer B12 injections to people who are not low in b12 and who do not require supplements otherwise.

I just started taking Vit B shots because of my Celiac. I have been feeling malaise and tired. Any weight loss would be a bonus
