I can't give you advice on which brand is better, but can share my personal experience. The best scale I ever used was a Health-O-Meter EVER-Weigh. I purchased it based on recommendations from other members. It weighed to the half pound, and it was always accurate with my physicians scales. I could stand on it 10 times in a row and get the same weight every time. I purchased it about 3 years ago, and it was around $65 at the time. My scales were recently demolished by a stack of heavy guitar amplifiers
I was unable to find the same model locally, but did find them on ebay.
The worst scales I ever purchased were chosen simply because they looked good. They were made from hammered aluminum and were gorgeous. However, every time I stood on them, my weight varied. I think the brand was "Measurements" or something like that.
