I have the book and I would recommend getting it.
It starts off a bit of a heavy read, but it's very interesting and the plan is well thought out and makes sense. I did a modified version that suits my circumstances and budget, and I will definitely do the "proper" program once I am in a situation to do so.
I'm not one to be sucked in my gimmicky diets and fads, and to me the reasoning behind the arguments seem solid, and the tone of the book is good - not too preachery and not too forced funny.
