Question Green Tea Extract Pills?

What do you think about taking Green Tea Concentrated Extract pills? I've heard from various sources that green tea is good for weight loss, but I can't stand the stuff, so what about the pills? Do you think there are any benefits?
Thanks for your wise counsel!
Beth

(I think these guys are drinking green tea)

The only studies done have shown very little effect from green tea, with 8 pounds lost in a year. There's more hype than fact with green tea. However, it's a great source of antioxidants so you should include it in your daily diet. Drink the real thing, though, and avoid the pills because the studies have not shown the same effects. In regards to weight loss, a lot of our members have reported that drinking green tea has helped them lose because it gave them a calorie free treat that was comforting and kept them from reaching towards something with calories.

Good luck

Hey BethBeth,

Green tea is good for your endothelium (the lining of your blood vessels) as well, so the health benefits go beyond the weightloss aspect...

I also hate the taste of it, so one thing that I do is mix it with another tea-- using a bag of green and a bag of chai or black tea at the same time. You can also try mixing green tea with a half packet of sugar-free hot cider-- you can't taste the tea at all!

There are a lot of versions of green tea and they do taste different. Have you tried jasmine tea? Oolong?

Other things to try include green tea with lemon and white tea.

I drink a green tea chai now, it's quite delicious and you wouldn't know the base was green tea. It's all the spices LOL!
