Denis Autsin's "Eat Carbs, Lose Weight"

  • I found this book at my library and wondered if anyone had tried it. I didn't check it out because I'm moving and would end up packing the book.

I did skim through it, and the plan seems to be 1300 cals a day, 12 minutes of easy yoga a day, and eating 50% carbs, 25% each protein and fiber.

Here's some questions for those who tried this program:
    1. Did it work?
    2. How difficult was it to stay at that level of calories? I'm afraid I would end up ravenous.
    3. Did the exercises work - do you feel/look more toned?

    TIA!
  • I haven't tried it, but when I do my FitDay food, I end up with about 40-50% carbs and it's because I eat a LOT of veggies and fruits. I think if you made the carbs good veggies (think volumetrics--big huge salads with lots of tomatoes and cucumbers), you would be less ravenous than if you just ate crackers as your carbs.
Hope this helps-- sorry I don't know about the book, but it sounds like it could definitely work if you do it right!
  • I like Denise Austin. I read an article she had in Fitness magazine a few years ago about how to lose 1-2 inches off your waist in a month. I've done those exercises and they've actually helped tighten my abs a lot.

I do believe that you can lose weight while eating lots of carbs - my diet is usually 50-60% carbs and I've lost 30 pounds in around 3.5 months. I'm not a strict dieter, though - strict dieting is A) expensive (I'd have to buy separate foods for me and the girlfriend because haaaates "diet food" of ANY type) and B) too rigid for my tastes, so I just calorie count and try to make sure my deficit between calories consumed and calories burned is 1,000 on most days.
