Default *******.

I have heard a MILLION rave reviews about *******. I don't really ever follow "diet plans" but I'm REALLY curious about this one. Has anyone here ever been on the plane? If so, what happened during the plan, and after you stopped following it.

As far as what happens when you stop it - Studies show that those who quit low carb diets regain very quickly. It's a tricky transition to a more balanced diet. The National Weight Control Registry reports that their members that lost weight on low carb kept it off by carefully transitioning to higher carb, lower fat diets.

Thank you!
I actually looked on other sites about *******, and I read somewhere the woman Kim who started it, only has 1100 calories a day to maintain her weight.
EEK!

I've also read complaints about calories as low as 500, to lose! It sounded like a very low calorie and very low carb diet. From what I understand, it's just the original Atkins Induction, from the old books, but you don't eat as much fatty food.

The reason why so many low-carb dieters lose weight fast is because of the lack of carbohydrates causes them to lose glycogen stores from their muscles, and with the loss of glycogen comes a loss of a lot of water; as soon as they reinstate the carbs, the glycogen comes back to the muscles and attracts the water.

I personally think that going on such a calorie, restrictive diet is dangerous and unrealistic. I have been researching the maintainers here and other places and most all of them have kept the weight off by eating a healthy diet with more than 1500 calories a day and by doing at least 30 to 60 minutes of exercise. I haven't read one case of someone maintaining for a long time on something as restrictive and unbalanced as the ******* diet.

Save your money and health. ******* diet is DANGEROUS. On the surface it's a combination of Stillman's and Atkins '72. However, the advice she often gives is pro-ana. She was a long time poster on lowcarbfriends.com and there is a 75+ page thread at the moment exposing her as wacky at best and a con artist at worst. The main thing is she refuses to post current pictures of herself and has posted pictures that are different people for her after pictures. No one has ever seen her in person to verify that her plan works or that she looks like the pictures she has posted.

I've seen so many get caught up in the promise of quick weight loss she spouted for years that they spiraled into some serious eating disorder behaviors. They will restrict food intake to the point that their body rebels and they binge and then the guilt cycle starts. They try hard to get back on plan and fall again and again and again.

She pushes the use of laxatives, going without eating for days if there is nothing on plan available and playing manipulative head games in how she answers questions. If someone is not losing weight she will accuse them of lying and then lay a guilt trip on them.

She uses the example of the diet that people have to go on with the gastric bypass as her reasoning to go extremely low calorie, low carb and low fat. She fails to explain that people who have had the surgery are under close medical supervision with regular blood work done in order to make sure they are getting all the necessary nutrients.

Oh and if people pay their money to join her site and ask questions about the safety of the diet or similar they get banned and usually lose their money.

Indeed, you do get banned for being persistant when asking about the safety of the diet.

I can't do "no carb" diets- I literally get sick from them. I tried Atkins three times, and each time, I got so sick from all the protein, I had to stop.

I got banned from her website because I posted one message questioning the authenticity of some of her before and after photos. They are obviously not the same people in some, and in others they are photochopped...and poorly so. The night that I posted a 'non-aggressive' post, the shut the site down for maintenance. When she brought it back up, she had changed the terms and conditions stating that anyone who posted anything she didn't like would be banned. She got rid of some of the most obvious fraudulent photos, but there were several still there last time I looked (which was awhile). The pictures she has posted of herself are not the same people at all, although she is quickly getting rid of the most obviously fraudulent pictures of herself. She has even posted a picture of Jacklyn Smith as her after picture before. Her website and her diet are 'living on borrowed time'. I wouldn't get mixed up with anything she has to offer.

******* is scary and unsafe. My friend sent me a link to the website thinking that i might be interested and even she said it was drastic. I looked further and found an interview that she supposidly did on a radio station and in there she says that no matter how slow ir fast you lose wight you will have excess skin and that is not always true. She also thinks that losing 100=200 pounds in under a year is healthy. personally unless you have a severe wight issue it can't be that healthy. she keeps insisting rapid weightloss and off course your gonna get it when you eat no carbs just protein and some veggies. wonder how much that affects the body long term. I knwo that it doesnt sound helthy to me so I wonder what doctors and dieticians think.

While I can not vouge for "*******"...I can vouge for Atkins. I began Atkins in April of 2004 at 245 lbs The first thing I did was buy a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (no, I am NOT on Atkins '72) and I read the book from cover to cover. Many people who embark on Atkins do not ever read the book...they go by the Atkins website (which, since Dr. Atkins death, has changed a great deal)...or, they go by hearsay from others who are uneducated or mis-educated about the plan. Many have the false conception Atkins consists mainly of consuming lbs of meat, bacon & butter everyday. It does NOT! The rules of Inducation clearly state "12-15 of your 20 carbs for the day, need to be coming from veggies & salad". IF someone wanting to try Atkins approaches & continues the plan correctly...it works!! I lost close to 100 lbs in a little over a year And while I am by no means an expert, I have approached this from day 1 as a total LIFESTYLE change...not a diet! When I read the book, the one thing that jumped out at me & stuck with me was & is..."Eat nothing that is not on the acceptable foods list...and that means absolutely nothing...Your "just this one taste won't huirt" rationalization is the kiss of failure". This is key!

For me, Atkins has been one of the best things I've ever done in my life Being 100 lbs thinner & being able to go into a store and put on a size 8/10 is an awesome feeling after spending the majority of your life overweight. This is my way of eating for the rest of my life and if Dr. Atkins were here today, I'd give him a big hug and thank him for giving me my life back!!!

I started ******* on March 18th. I got in when it was still $39 for a lifetime membership. And here is what I KNOW to be fact:

I have NEVER been told to eat 500 to 700 calories. In fact there is no calorie limit listed. The only thing that is a for sure is to not let your carbs get above 20 grams per day. I eat between 800 to 1000 calories a day (have even gone as high as 1200). My fat intake is between 40g to 60g a day. My protein is 90g to 120g a day. I only recently decided to increase my numbers like this as I was not losing at the lower numbers. As soon as I started eating like this, I have consistantly lost an average of 1 to 2 pounds a day.

No one has EVER told me not to eat. Nor have they told me to go days without eating. No one has ever manipulated me or played head games with me. Never have I been accused of lying or had any sort of guilt trip laid on me. In fact, when I was experiencing bouts of lightheadedness, Kimmer was the FIRST one to implore me to go to my doctor. Whenever, I have had problems with a loss, she has been most gracious and kind to try and point me in the right direction. At no time has she told me to eat only 500 calories or less. In fact, I got scolded at one point for NOT eating.

I have posted questions on safety issues before on the site. No one ever banned me. In fact, my questions were answered rather quickly. Perhaps I did not ask the "right" question to get myself banned?

I have NEVER been discouraged from drinking water. I am NOT addicted top laxatives. The list of accusation people are making about this diet go on and on.

This is the bottom line for me. Had I not find ******* I would be dying a death from being super morbidly obese. Had it not been for Kimmer imploring me to go to my doctor, I would not have had my BP meds cut in half. (Plus, I would not have had my doctors recommendation and approval for me to go on this diet. And before you all attack that statement by saying "doctors aren't nutritionist", my doctor is a specialist in kidneys and hypertension. He is not a GP. And I routinely have to have my blood tested with him. My numbers are phenomenal! And he said that [to him] proves that this diet is healthy) Had it not been for *******, I would still be unable to walk from my knee pain. I would still be crippled up with arthritis pain and I would still be unable to sleep in bed. So, ******* in essence has saved my life and I will be forever greatfull to Kimmer for ALL the help she has given me.

Nope, I am not a plant. I am a woman that stared this journey weighing 432 pounds. And I now weigh 374.5 pounds.

And, let me clarify about the "consistently losing 1 to 2 pounds". I meant to state that this past week after tweaking the plan to fit my needs. I consitently lost 1 to 2 pounds each day throughout the week. However, I do know that this will taper off in the next week as my body adjusts to the change. Then I would assume I will be back to losing at a slower rate.

I have read all those links that you posted. I am just saying that FOR ME this has saved my life. My doctor fully supports this plan AFTER seeing my numbers and how my health has improved. I never told him anything about this until after I had been on it. (which Ido know was stupid on my part, but, it was a choice I made for myself however risky it was.)

And I do not appreciate being called a liar. I did not think that what I posted was going to elicit personal attacks on my character. I was just merely stating why I support the ******* plan. It works for me is why I posted. Does the title of the thread not say, "Does it work"?

Now, if you prefer I won't ever post my opinions here again. The very thing that Kimmer is accused of doing on her site is probably about to happen to me for just giving my opinion. And I did not think that I was being the least bit nasty or anything.

Scoble - glad you found a plan that works for you!

The plant suspicion came from the fact that you'd made one post, only in this thread. We get lots of posts like that on the board, and they're usually from spammers or people who are doing viral marketing. Just previous board experiences, nothing against you personally.

Again, if you have a plan that works for you, great. The safety concerns we raise are valid, though, too, just as your personal experiences are valid for you.

Best of luck in continuing on your journey!

It's true that ******* is an extremely dangerous "diet" ( I use that term loosely because this hardly qualifies as a diet). It looks innocent enough (to most) on the surface of the plan but that is a thin veil covering a very dangerous diet. Those that are on it are frequently counseled to take laxatives on a daily basis throughout their WHOLE weight loss journey, Diet Coke fasts are recommended, Exercise is basically ridiculed and there is a dangerous undertone of just how low can you go with calories. Bad stuff here! Linking to the Fitday's of *most* Kimkin's followers will reveal some really scary numbers for daily calories - 200-500 seems to be a good average.
Here are a couple of blogs with some eye-opening information on this "diet". Please share these links with anyone you know that is interested in ******* or currently doing *******. Health has to come first in any weight loss venture, and with *******, many are barely escaping with their lives, let alone health! Be Blessed!
