It depends on the birth control--some do, some don't. If you're talking about the pills, some may cause weight gain at first, but not forever, and certainly not much (a few pounds as your body adjusts). I have been on birth control pills since the week I turned 16 (as cyst prevention medication after having emergency surgery to remove 2 ovarian cysts), and I honestly don't think it's made a difference in my weight at all--I was overweight before them, and I'm able to lose weight even though I'm on them.
I've heard some horror stories about weight gain in relation to the Depo shots, though, but I can't say first hand, as I've always just used the pills (I HATE needles ).
