Hypertension and Congestive Heart Failure need help
Hello-
I am 35 years old and have been diagnosed with CHF due to Hypertension, I have been told if I want to live, I need to cut out all salt from my diet, this is very hard for me, because everything that you eat has some sort of sodium in it. Any advice or guidance for me. I really need to lose weight in order to get my Hypertension under control. |
Hello,
I would say to stay away from frozen, processed foods, fast food and canned foods. They all contain a large amount of sodium. ( this i was told by my doctor) try eating fresh fruits and veggies instead. Your doctor didnt give you any advice? maybe you can ask to see a dietican to help you more with this. i have completely cut out ALL frozen processed, fast food and canned foods from my diet and it is hard for the first 2 weeks, but now i have no problems. just thinking of fast food makes me wanna barf now that my body is liking the good food so much. Gl with this sweetie. and i would defintley talk with your doctor about a dietican. they will be able to help you alot. |
Hi Tori-
Thanks for responding my Dr. did give me advice, and I did see a dietician, I just I just need to get motivated, after awhile it gets boring and I want a turkey sandwich or something that I am not suppose to have. I really need some good recipes. |
I also have CHF and hypertension. Both are now well-controlled with the weight loss. I take 1/4 of a diuretic each day. I eat lots of fresh fruit and veggies and don't use any table salt. I stay away from canned foods as they are loaded with sodium. Good luck to you, I know how challenging it can be.
