Hi, Rosey - you still in your igloo? Have you managed to control that pesky elastic band yet - or are you going to take the show on the road?
Emmi - Do you blood sugars come down after you've exercised? If you're taking meds and eating and exercising, 199 does seem a little high. Maybe you should check your meter. I take Actos, which also causes weight gain. I gained a lot of weight when I first started taking it - don't know how much was just me bingeing and how much was the medication. I started off at a high dose but am now down to 15 mg. along with Glucotrol and Glucophage. I can lose weight now when I stay on program.
Deb, Rosey's right. Stress will wreak havoc with the blood sugar. It will change when things settle down. Hope everything goes well on Monday and Happy Anniversary!

Hi All!

I've been super busy at work and haven't been feeling all that great. My blood sugar has been a little high even though my diet has stayed fairly constant. I'm still getting my exercise in too, so I'm not sure what the deal is. I guess I'll just keep watching it. I got 2.97 miles in running this a.m. I'm ALMOST to a 10 minute mile.

Rosey, all that snow sounds kinda fun. We don't get much here, and I'm always sooo excited when we do - like a kid! I guess it wouldn't a lot of fun if you had to shovel it every week though.

Hope you all have a great day!

Hi Rosey - or should I say Rambling Rosey? You can ramble all you want, your posts are always fun. Sounds like you and hubby had a nice valentine's. You probably were able to shovel the snow because of all your work at Curves. that salad sounds intriguing. What are cran raisens?
K - sorry you're not feeling well. Could that be why your blood sugar is high? Hope you feel better.
Deb It's been raining here for a couple of days. I don't mind at all except I'm not inclined to go out and walk in it. Sigh. I've got a freezer full of Lean Cuisines and have stocked the office fridge with apples and Slim Fast, but I can't seem to get back on the wagon.

Hi Pat - glad you had a nice valentine's day. Hope you are staing OP.
Mary - congrats on the 4 lbs. WTG! And your sugars are doing so well. Mine go up and down. Sometimes there is a large gap between my morning reading and my before dinner reading. i.e., yesterday I was 152 in the a.m. and 96 in the evening before dinner. Don't know if that is good or not. I saw Million $ Baby. All the actors were fine but was especially impressed with Clint Eastwood. Have a nice nap.

Hi, Rosey. Stress definitely causes blood sugars to rise. Are you under any right now? If everything has been normal except your blood sugars you should probably see the doctor if they don't go down. He might add another pill. I don't remember if I was told to eat before bedtime. My eating schedule is breakfast after I get to work, about 9:30, lunch between 1 and 2 and usually an apple at about 5 or 6 while I computer surf. I don't eat dinner until about 9 or later, so I'm eating it just before I go to bed. (I don't take my blood sugar at that time.) You should definitely eat before exercise. As for American Idol, I usually watch it only in the final stages. I rarely turn the tv on before 9 p.m. Have a nice evening.

Well I'm sorry I'm not going to read all the post for the last week. I'm at work tonight and just don't have the time. But I thought I'd let everyone know the news. Wesley James was born 2/14/05 at 9:35 am and weighed 4lbs. 15oz. and was 18 in. long. of course he's a premi but is doing well and improveing every day.
As for Grammy, I'm walking on a cloud and could not be happier.

My sugars have been good and holding on the weight. So I'm not going to complain. Ho0pe evryone is doing well and I'm sure I'll have time to catch up on all the news in the next couple of days.

Good morning-I want to ask a question for my diabetic husband. He has diabetes and he just had bypass surgery so his sugar is high. They stressed that he needs to really follow the diet but they gave me 2 copies and each says something different about how many carbs etc. he can have. Does anyone have a chart that goes by weight and height that tells what the exchanges should be for the day. I really like those exchanges as The meal planner. He lost 20 pounds having the surgery so he sure doesn't need to lose weight. He is 5 feet 4 inches and weighs 140. Thanks for your help. Mima from the fibro group.

Deb - Congratulations! What a wonderful valentine's present! So happy everything worked out and that you're doing well too. Have a nice weekend.

Mima - I'm afraid I'm not much help with the carb count since I'm not very good at doing that myself. The dietition's sample meals showed an awful lot of carbs - more that I would eat to lose weight. You might want to try the American Diabetes Association website to see if there's anything there or the National Institutes of Health. In the meantime, why not just average out the two carb counts you were given and use that as a guideline. I agree that your dh doesn't need to lose any more weight so now it's just maintaining his blood sugar and eating a heart healthy diet. I hope he continues to do well. And you and/or your dh are welcome to post here anytime.
