Awww, that's sweet about ROSEY's grandkids decorating the beautiful lopsided tree. How cute!
MONET: I went to UGA too! I graduated in '96 with a degree in Art Ed. I took two or three clay classes and LOVED them. I don't think I'm that good at clay, but its fun. I am better at watercolor and oil/acrylic painting and crafts. I am like you -I like doing anything creative. I am also trying to write a novel - about a 38-year-old woman who lives in Decatur, owns a restaurant called Lulabelle's, and decides to adopt two children. I've written about 50 pgs.
I am going to see a new Dr. at Northside Hosp. - Dr. Wotton, works with Drs. Silverman and Beasley. I had a great Dr. at Piedmont - Dr. Greenlee. She is awesome! Highly recommended. I wanted one at Northside though. I have been going to see Dr. Isaacs - not thrilled. Hate to bad mouth him, but I think he is VERY interested in obesity and did not consider me obese (enough). If you find an endo/internist in the Northside area, PLEASE LET ME KNOW - that's an excellent idea!
VIKI: I checked out your portfolio - very professional work. I am IMPRESSED. You are very talented.
I just wrote my brother an email about Christmas. At the end I wrote, "Yes, I am up at 4:46 AM. Diabetes is fun."
Can you relate? My blood sugar is 300. Is it because I ate Mexican food last night? Or because I had 3 lows yesterday and got sick of it and adjusted my pump to give a lower dose (basal rate). Ah, that's probably the reason.
BTW, this is not typical. I'm having a pretty hard time right now. Can't wait to see the Dr. this coming Weds!
Did terrible food-wise last night. I only had a sandwich at 11:00, so by 6:00, I was ravenous and got DH to take me to Mexican restaurant, where I proceeded to pig out on chips and salsa and then the entree. Not a happy camper this AM.
BTW, is anyone else having a hard time with Christmas treats? I work at a retirement home and one of the residents made me homemade candy yesterday, then we had a party with awesome holiday cookies.
Ah-ha!
Writing this entry is giving me instant insight into why my sugar is high right now...
Misa, I have given up on bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, sugar & flour. They send my sugars too high. I am not on meds, so I don't do them at all. My BGs have been in control two weeks after diagnosis and have maintained.
The first week of giving them up were the hardest. After that the cravings left and I don't miss any of them at all.
If I get hungry, I eat veggie stir frys/sautees like bell peppers, onions, summer squash and chicken breast medallions or Bavarian style cabbage with a turkey brat. I love making baked or steamed fish dishes. I love cooking restaurant quality meals at home, making them beautiful and delicious. Cooking is a wonderful hobby, LOL maybe I should have been a chef, I love it. And the cool thing is, you can eat extremely well on a lower carb diet today because the food industry has taken note and the products are readily available to help you convert nearly any recipe to low carb.
I weighed in this morning at 192, down from 228 and closing in on a forty pound loss since 9/15/06.
When I get to my goal weight, I will modify my weight loss plan to maintain my weight. So I may add back in controlled amounts of bread etc. In the mean time, this is working very well and I am not feeling left out of anything. I feel more empowered to take back my life...I deserve this weight loss after years of disregarding my health.
Too many people focus on what they think they are missing out on.
I guess I would have to say I had an attitude re-alignment. I refuse to feel sorry for myself. I am celebrating!
That is so wonderful, Viki! I wish that I could have an attitude re-alignment like that (good phrase! ). My problem seems to be that I will do well for a few days and then I will allow myself to get hungry and say, screw it, I want some pizza (or ice cream, cake, chips and dip, etc.). I think my key is to eat something smallish every 3 hrs., but that's hard to do at work. That's one reason I was ODing on granola bars for a while there.
Thank you for your entry. It certainly has me thinking. And it is very encouraging, especially because of your amazing and steady weightloss. Way to go!!!
Howdy.. we had a snow storm.. 9-12 inches.. my dh is shoveling and had to use the snow blower to clear the drive way.. yah viki ive seen that monster alot..i been shopping on line today(always fun) and procrastinating on dishes and laundry(not fun)..as scarlett would say "tomorrows another day" should be my motto hope you all are having a stress free and fun day ((((hugs)))) rosey
Goodness gracious, I do not know where the time goes at this season of the year. Just realized I did not post yesterday at all and was on the run the day before and will be again today.
Sorry about this gang of mine. Hope to get back into the normal swing of things soon. For somebody who got all her shopping done in fine time, I seem to be bumping into dozens of things that I still have left to do.
Anyway, everybody . . . have a great day. Keep on doing the good moving and shaking and we'll see you all again really soon.
