I finally remembered to check my fbs today and it was 104. The scale is finally, after an 11 day hiatus, back to my lowest weight since starting, 190.6. So, things are looking up even though I had a baked potato last night, lol. I'm still coughing alot but I think the antibiotic is starting to work. This is probably gross to share but I also started a three month treatment for a toenail fungus It can affect the liver negatively so I have to get labs drawn once a month for that. Oh and while I'm just spilling all my medical guts I'm happy to report my mammogram was fine, lol.

Trish that sounds like the weigh down diet. I've done that one too. Congrats on your new low! And as an aside, I developed binge eating disorder directly following a very successful 34 lb loss with WW. I did some research a few years after when I finally saw a dr and there is a high % of folks who develop EDs immediately following some form of dieting. There are actual scientific papers written on the subject so you are not imagining things.

Carol Sue I developed my love of reading around that same time. When I was single I probably read 3 books a week regularly. I have been on a long hiatus with reading since Olivia was born but now I check a book out for me everytime we go to the library and I have finally started reading regularly again

Shannon, I knew you would find your way back! Your health is too important to you to just throw it all away! Very Good Job!

Today I added a new veggie to my diet. Leeks. I usually eat some onions every day for their health benefits, but I recently read that leeks. although similar, have different health benefits so I bought some. I cooked them in with the garlic, mushrooms, and spinach with my scrambled eggs I had for brunch. I forgot to put my black beans in it so I ate a handful of them afterwards!

Now I am on my way to Bed Bath and Beyond to get a set of those pans to make tortilla bowls. I am going to try making them with low carb tortillas and use them for eating salads, and taco fillings.

Yesterday we went to the casino. It is an hours drive each way. DH lasted from noon when we left the house until 7PM when we got home. So I would say he's improving! YAY! I can tell he's feeling better because he's getting back to his feisty self. LOL

Bed Bath and Beyond was out of the tortilla bowl makers, and so was every store we stopped at on the way home. I could order them for pick up at WalMart, but I found this site online for making them with a muffin pan, so I am going to try this before I continue to look for the pans. This is a great idea if it works! LOL

Mmmm! Gotta share this low carb sweet dip for pork rinds...
3 oz cream cheese - microwave for 30 sec and then stir
Add 1 tsp cinnamon, splash of heavy whipping cream and sweetener packets (2 splenda were enough for me). Mix well. (If you don't have heavy whipping cream, I think half and half would work too)

Love pork rinds! Try to save them for special occasions though, hard to limit.

Glad everyone seems to be doing okay! I had a record FBS this morning - 102! I saw that and then thought I bet my weight went up, and that went down too!

Happy Sunday!

Quick flyby for now. Weight up a little to 222.4 which is good since I seem to have been hungry all day, but my fbs was back down to 115. I had a carby day. I'm thinking the problem for me isn't the carbs as much as it is the fact that I need to eat less at each meal/snack... portion control. If this is true, eating on my trip will be easy.

Shannon It was weigh down, I just couldn't remember the name at the time (senior moment) I also love the pork rinds, but they have too much salt on them so I can't eat them very often. The dip sounds great for them though. Might could use it some other way. Thanks for sharing.

Kris I have a tough time putting the pork rinds down too which doesn't help me with the sodium. Sure wish they would make them with less salt.

Carol Sue

Rennie & Ruth Where are you two? You are missed.

Hi guys, I've binged again today after dinner. And this is totally doesn't make sense. We had lovely day out with my family, everything was perfect, we had lunch and dinner. I had enough food and after dinner I've eaten every single piece of nuts we had in a cupboard. Why? I don't know the answer Now it will be all night jumping checking for BG injecting insulin ... And crappy numbers in the morning, I hate myself right now. I would purge if I could I can't....
Starting 21 new days tomorrow ...again...
Hugs to you all.

Sanssucre, we have to get you straightened out. Don't purge. That's not the answer. Maybe you need to keep the tempting foods out of the house until you get some control. Don't try to plan too far in advance. Just do it for 1 day. Then worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. You can do this. It's hard, I know. Nuts are not the worst thing you could be binging on.

I bought a book at Goodwill about type 1 diabetes. It was only a dollar, and although it was mostly about insulin, it had some information about how the pancreas works and about different foods. I did learn some things, like I didn't know that caffeine raises blood sugar, and also, not everyone spikes at 2 hours PP. Sometimes it's 2 1/2 - 3 hrs. So you could test at 2 hours and think you're ok and an hour later you might spike. Never knew that.

Trish, you are doing good! I think you will be fine on your trip. My weight and BS are both up, but I'm not panicing. It happens. I'm learning that I go up and down and up and down and then get a good loss. Then the roller coaster starts all over again.

I started back eating my kale again today and for some reason, I think that will get me back on track. It gives me so many nutrients that my body is satisfied with less.

Rennie, are you hiding again?

Ruth?

And where did Mad go? And Bonnie? They have been away too long. Hope everything is ok.

FBS was 130 and weight back up to 223.4, but I expected it sine I ate ham which is always loaded with sodium. Lots of liquids and potty trips already this morning so I expect that to correct itself pretty quick.

Spent morning trying to figure out why my cell phone was silent and I couldn't get it turned back on. My beautician did some stuff on it Friday and the ringtones were all messed up and I have no idea where she got the ones that were on there. I've got all that corrected and good to go.

Had a talk with DGS and he has figured out where he is staying while we are on out trip so that is worked out. Still don't know how long we will be gone as my daughter's 13 yr companion I guess you call him is in the hospital and we aren't sure how that is going to play out. I want to be home by the 25th of June, but DH says we better keep our return open till we know what happens to him, because my DD might need us. We had planned to go see them anyway on our way back home, but may have to stay a little longer. He has been on dialysis for about 3 or 4 yrs and his heart stopped while on the machine last Wednesday. He finally is responding by squeezing her hand and following her voice with his eyes and she said his eyes lit up when she said she was going to stay the night. Nurse told her he has a long road to recovery, but dr hasn't given her that encouragement yet. His son graduates from high school this month and he had told him he would live to see him graduate. Then he has been preparing her telling her his body is tired and that he is going to go soon. Of course she wants him to live, but doesn't want to get her hopes up because she knows he is tired of fighting. So we are just praying and leaving it with the Lord to do what is best for all concerned. So not sure what the next month or so holds for us.

Carol Sue I have decide to relax and take one day at a time and let the trip take care of itself when it gets here. Regardless of what happens, my plan is to stay as close to OP as I possibly can and hope for the best. Then when I get back home where I have more control, I will get back right OP.

Y'all have a good one.

Speaking of trips, we leave next Monday for vacation. We will be in a condo so I should be able to cook breakfast at least. Lunch will definitely be out somewhere (Busch Gardens, waterpark, beach, etc). Dinner is likely to be out too. I want to talk to DH about cooking dinner instead but he really likes to be a free spirit on vacation and he likes to sleep late and get the day started late which often means very late dinners. The last two years my daughter has passed out at the dinner table every night. It drives me nuts but I try to remind myself it's just a few days.

Trish, you have a lot going on with your daughters companion. That's sad, but there isn't much more you can do but just pray. I think you will do fine on your trip because you will be busy.

Shannon, we always eat out when we travel. DH wants a vacation to be a vacation from everything. Just be careful what you order, and remember you can always take the leftovers back to the condo if you want. I don't think we will be going anywhere this year because DH still has the pain from the shingles. He cut the grass and did some work on the car, but it's just in spurts.

I don't think we will be doing anything over the holiday weekend.

confession time ...

I have had four really really high calorie/carb days ... needless to say, my fbs has been as high as 167 and my weight is back up to 167.8 today only .2 from my high so far on 5/13. I have done pretty well today with all of my planned meals on MFP dinner is the only meal I have left. I have decided that if I want something else to eat I will have a s/f gelatin and water but hopefully I will be fine after dinner

Rennie - Glad to see you back on track!

Interesting articles I just noticed today:

http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/0...ef=health&_r=0

This one is about the possibility that 2 or 3 meals a day is better than 5 or six smaller meals a day in regulating blood sugar. I have noticed this myself. On the weekends, I sometimes eat two meals - 10 ish and 4 ish. My FBS is always lower the next day. Of course, might not be same for everyone.

http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/0...l-blood-sugar/

Exercising in bursts throughout the day is beneficial to all day blood sugar. Probably not a surprise to us but glad somebody is looking at this.

Rennie, you reminded me that I have some s/f jello but forgot to make it. It's a good snack for us, and I like to put RediWhip on it because it's relatively low calorie for a little squirt.

I didn't get on the scale today because I felt fat and didn't want to see the number. Like it's not there if you don't see it! LOL

I just checked my blood sugar and it's only 96. I'm going to try very hard not to get nervous about it and eat something to prevent an overnight low.

Kris, I like to eat a big breakfast a small lunch, which is when I eat my big plate of vegetables, and a relatively small dinner, depending on how hungry I am. For a while I was exercising twice a day. My main exercise time is after lunch. For a while I was exercising again around 7 PM, just a 15 minute walk on the treadmill, but I have gotten away from that. It was helping drop my fasting blood sugar. It's been up a little lately so I should probably be doing that walk.

Shannon, I have still not bought a zucchini to try out my Vegetti, but today on the news, they did a segment on "Does it Really Do That" and they tested the vegetti. It worked fine for them and they voted it a good item. I got to see them use it so I have an idea what to do.
