I've been taking Byetta for several months now and haven't ever had a problem before but today and yesterday I feel nauseous and like I have the flu, no fever, no aches or pains. My husband thinks it's the Byetta but I wanted to ask others who take it if that's what it could be? Of course I'll ask my doctor tomorrow, I'm just wonderin.
I know that when Ellen was taking it, she did experience nausea but it started as soon as she began the treatment. Check with your doc - you could just have 'flu.
I take Byetta and sometimes I get nauseous with it... sometimes I can pinpoint it to something that I ate... like lettuce! For me, since Byetta slows down digestion, it's like some foods, lettuce for instance, sit there and ferment and I fell yucky!
i never had a problem the week i was on byetta....but for that matter, any time a doctor tells me to worry about a side effect, it never happens. thats just me though.
My man partner has been on Byetta for a couple of years now. He lost weight because it made him nauseous. He got over the nausea and has not lost anymore weight. Byetta does curb his appetite.
I used to take it & when I felt nauseated, I take a sugar free Tums. Kept me from wanting to puke. I lost 20 lbs with it. There was some kind of concern with it, you may want to check it out. Good Luck.
My doctor put me on Byetta because I have type 2 diabetes and I wanted to lose weight. The moment I started it, I got bad stomach cramps, which did not subside until I stopped taking it. I also got nausious alot. I don't recommend Byetta at all.
I just started taking byetta. I sometimes feel like my food has fermented in my stomach, then I have diareeha (sp) all day sometimes especially when I eat salads. Is this normal? I would appreciate any advice.
Yes, it can. I took it last summer. One day I woke up and I was sick as a dog. I could hardly make it to the dinning room to get my meter. I went to the doctor that day. I thought I was sick so I didn't eat that morning at all. After I ate some protein when I came home I was fine. You really have to eat protein when you are on Byetta.
I've been taking the lowest dose of Byetta since August, and I haven't had any problems with it at all. My doctor has cautioned me about the symptoms that I need to watch for if I have a severe reaction (what has been in the press lately) and to stop taking the Byetta and call her ASAP. I had a check-up this week, and she increased the dosage of Byetta. Again, she went over what I need to watch for.
I find that, as long as I follow the guidelines of taking my injection around 30 minutes prior to a meal, I do fine. The one or two times that I've pushed the timing too close to an hour, I've felt a little "off," but as soon as I eat, I'm fine.
I think Byetta is one of those medications that affect differently people differently.
