Good Morning Leenie and all our little chickadees!

I see that Cin got LindaT to jump out of "lurkerville" and post yesterday! Man I was so excited when I saw her name, thinking there was gonna be a big ole long post telling us all about what she is doing and how things is going, and then I got there and it was just a quick "boo". Well I was still THRILLED to see ya LindaT! when you have a minute, please post and let us know what's going on in your neck of the woods. We sure do miss ya!!!!

Tippy - hey there girlie! does your church own/run the school there too? also you mentioned not "particularly caring for the man".... do you mean the church member that invited him for supper, or the new pastor? just wondering. I'll be praying for your church. Please let us know how it goes.

Noodles - I thought I had an obsessive compulsive personality, but you've got me beat by a landslide. You get the OCD TROPHY. I thought my closets were pretty neat, but I have not yet begun (nor will I start) to color code my hangers to match the color of the clothes hanging on them. Oh boy that is time consuming. Most of our hangers are the white hangers from walmart. Now I do hang all like items together - all pants together, all shirts, all tank tops, all sweaters, all skirts, all dresses (all 5 of them) together, and I do tend to hang things in the same direction and such.....well like I said, I'm sort of organized by not OCD. Girl I feel for you - I know it is very time consuming and sometimes exhausting, but I also understand how much better it feels to have things neat and organized and just the way you want them. BTW? how many kids do you have?

Joanne - hey there! I actually live near Lake Charles, which is about 3 hours from New Orleans. I have lived here all my life and only been to New Orleans once and that was on an 8th grade field trip (I really need to get out more). But wild horses couldn't drag me anywhere around New Orleans during Mardi Gras! wow! it's WILD! I hope you get your internet up and running soon! hurry back! I'll be praying for you leg pain!

I had the best low carb supper last night. I got the idea from Leenie! and boy was it a good idea! I had pork rind nachos. Basically I just made regular nachos, but instead of using chips I put everything on pork rinds! Man it was good and crunchy and it sure hit the spot. Have ya'll tried that? I would have never thought of it by myself!

So what's everybody doing today?

It's still raining around here. Don't think we will ever dry up. But a week or 2 of sunshine sure would be wonderful!

later gaters,
cathy

I didn't get to N.O. either this year Cathy. Usually we will go but this year just didn't seem to happen for us. I am not saying that I am unhappy about it either. Next year Fat Tuesday will be Feb 8th. YIKES! That is really early.

Not much going on here today. I do have a few things that I need to do but as usual I am putting them off. Boy I am bad about that.

Morning Ladies...

Leenie I don't get up early unless I have to and 7:30 is EARLY for me as I like to stay under the covers until 9 if I can.

Cin it was good to see you. I've sent several emails to you with no response. I thought maybe you were mad at me though I couldn't figure out why. I will email you later today...let me know if you get it. I'm thinking that I may have to send you porn to get you to respond!! :

So I'm not the only one who's been playing hookie in here huh? Shame on you LindaT. : I've been horrible about emailing and posting here and in my journal.

Liz turning 40 was horrible for me but many people say it was the turning point of the best years of their lives. I hope you fit into that catagory.

Pork rind nachoes.....different but worth trying. I will have to try them. If I don't like them I'll come haunt you Leenie!!

Kempyd I'm glad to see that I am not the only procrastor. Ruthie was just talking about that in her journal today. I actually am motivated to do something about that today.

Well there's no better time than now to go and give my plants a haircut and finish up the laundry, vacuum, dust and clean out the fridge. Catch you all later.

Hi everyone! I just got a few minute to check in all the foums and emails before I gotta go!

Cathy, I meant that I didn't particularly like the fellow member,NOT the visiting Pastor. Actually the gentleman in question simply might have a sense of humor not remotely like mine...I don't know.

Nothing else to report. R is swearing at his computer as I type. I have to make lunch. There is laundry to fold and crocheting to crochet and sewing to sew.

Nice to see you, SweetPea. Now lets drag LindaT to the keyboard and tickle er until she posts.

Talking Hi Ladies

I'm STILL here

Cathy: When I think of Mardi Gras, I think of just New Orleans. I guess the whole state was celebrating Our local area had a small celebration this weekend. DS and friends went-he said it was o.k. Pork rind nachos doesn't really sound that appetizing , but I guess it would provide the crunch and texture that you'd get from chips. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Kemp: I'm a procrastinator too (sitting here in my nightgown @ 12:45 p.m.)

Leenie: When I was about 10 or so, I actually gave up ice cream sundaes for Lent Not exactly a sacrifice!

SweetPea: I'm with you! I'm DEFINETELY not an early bird

Feeling better today. I'm glad, since tonight is my time with my munchkins Our tax return is ready too; we're getting a good refund

Hope everyone is having a great day

LoL...Thanks. Always wanted a trophy.

I also hang my clothes in the same direction. It actually isn't time consuming anymore because I am so use to doing it, that it all stays in place. And get this..HUBBY has more clothes than *I* do. Closet Hog!!
You are right about the good feeling of having things neat & organized. I have been this way since I was a little kid. I was always tearing up my room and moving it around, re-arranging my stuff. I think it stems into an area where "you" feel like you have control over it because it's something "you" can control instead of it controlling you. Every so often I will go through each room and sort and pitch stuff into either my ebaY, yard sale, or giveaway bins so I don't keep collecting clutter. My problem is...I LOVE to shop. Especially at the swap meet, yard sales, thrift stores, etc. When I get bored with something, I sell it. This way I am still getting rid of stuff but making some cash off of it.

I have 1 daughter. Age 10. I have pics posted here at this link. Feel free to take a peek! If you want to see a bigger version of the photo, just click on the thumbnail.

Noodles Photos!

Ok..what is Lent?? I've heard of it but...can ya refresh me? Tanks!!

I am going to New Orleans in July 2005 for a National Tournament. Too bad Mardi Gras isn't going on then! But I am sure there is plenty else to do...Luckily for me I still have a little over a year to plan it.

Hugs for the rest of ya...

Noodles, This is Lent / Ash Wednesday: ENJOY !!!

What does it mean?

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent.
It is always the Wednesday of the seventh week before Easter, and its name comes from the ceremonial putting of ashes on the foreheads of Christian worshippers. Traditionally, the ashes for the Ash Wednesday service come from burning the palm fronds from the previous year’s Palm Sunday celebration.

The Imposition of Ashes

Those who desire to receive the ashes come forward and may kneel before the altar.

Ashes are applied with the minister's thumb in the form of a small cross on the forehead of each person with the words: "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."

Ashes symbolize several aspects of our human existence:

Ashes remind us of God's condemnation of sin, as God said to Adam, "Dust you are and to dust you shall return" (Genesis 3:19).

Ashes suggest cleansing and renewal. They were used anciently in the absence of soap. On Ash Wednesday ashes are a penitential substitute for water as a reminder of our baptism.

Ashes remind us of the shortness of human life, for it is said as we are buried: "earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust."

Ashes are a symbol of our need to repent, confess our sins, and return to God.

Thanks, Leenie!! Now I remember!!

I really need to get my butt back to church...problem is, I can't seem to find the right "religion" or church for me. I was baptized Catholic and raised around Baptists, Mormons, Jehovahs, Methodists, Nazerenes, 7th Day Adventists, etc...and I like some of what each one has to offer, but not all of it. I know I know..picky picky!! hehehehe

Wonder if this is why Mel Gibsons movie was released today?? To Coincide with Ash Wed.?? hmmm....

Hi everyone....I guess it's sort of late for posting....went to my usual Wednesday A.M. coffee with friends.
Am doing okay with the Zone eating plan....it's my 5th day of following it.

SweetPea.....I don't get up early unless I have to....also.....when I am not going anywhere early....I have to set the alarm for 8:30....so I can sit at the light box by 9.
