S/C/G: 200 goal-120

Height: 5'3"

Question Finding a new coping mechanism

Has anyone had any luck substituting emotional eating for better alternatives such as exercise?
This is my goal, but issue is when the depression hits I can't be bother to even sit up or leave the couch/bed. It becomes like a massive weight pushing down on me, I don't say this as an excuse though.

Yes. But what you eat helps a lot as well. Fish, seafood and fresh vegetables have done wonders for my mental health as well as my physical one. I can literally feel my mood lift when I eat certain healthy foods.

But a good run or a weight training session always keeps my anxiety in check. Sometimes you have to just drag yourself out there.

In fact a key reason why my new lifestyle has stuck is to do with the impact it has had on my anxiety. It makes me feel better so it's a no-brainer for me to stick to healthy foods and exercise.

The unhealthy alternative (junk, no exercise) used to give me a quick boost followed by a huge crash.

I used to sweat the small stuff. Most days now I don't give a sh!t about much any more. Even things I should be unhappy about, like my divorce.

It is very liberating. A bit like a divorce, come to think of it!!!

Have u considered seeing a therapist who specializes in depression such as a MD referral to a med specialist dealing in this issue and weight loss specialist helped me too. PMS does that to me, as does very hot , humid weather, attacks my breathing and asthma affects my energy too.Oh carbo loading like pasta w/ veggies is very helpful for me for low energy but it does cause stomach distention for awhile after loading up on the carbs for energy to exercise. But once i exercise my stomach distention subsides and i feel so much more relieved like a weight is lifted and the food tastes good if i haven't eaten for awhile too.
