Prozac?
 

I have recently been prescribed prozac to help my depression. Has anyone had any luck with it? If so, how do you feel after taking it? I just have no motivation to do anything which makes losing weight almost impossible. I eat too much because of depression and anxiety/apprehension. I think I would finally be able to lose weight if I could just feel normal, but I don't even know what that is to be honest. Has prozac helped anyone's obsessive relationship with food?

I started Prozac a year ago for social anxiety/depression. I actually dropped about 20 lbs within a few months on it. I think it reduced my appetite because I didn't eat much. My anxiety/depression got better after a few months, but then starting this year my appetite increased and I gained almost everything back.
So I went from 184 to 163 to 180 lbs on the course of taking Prozac

My sister started Prozac a few months ago and almost immediately gained 20 lbs on it, although it helped a lot for her depression.

It's different for everyone, but I learned it's not a good idea to rely completely on Prozac for weight loss.

Yeah, I'm not gaining weight but I'm not losing it either. I've been within 6 pounds for like 4 months. :(

I gained about 20 lbs when I started it in 2009. Then I got put on seroquel, for bipolar and schizophrenia (not depression, included this for weight purposes), and gained a lloooootttt more. I am now on prozac again (after being taken off of it for a year or two) and have not gained weight on it. That seroquel though, is out of control, lol. I take metformin (not diabetic though, just take it for counteractive purposes) to stop the weight gain and topomax as an appetite suppressant (since seroquel makes you gain weight by increasing your appetite). My moods and everything else are pretty stable when I take my meds regularly. Prozac works well for me.
