Default Bipolar meds and alcohol?

I haven't started my meds yet. I don't normally drink at all, but I've got a party to go to in a few weeks, and want to drink there (play drinking games, etc).

The internet seems to be split down the middle: everyone says you shouldn't drink because it can affect the meds, but a lot of people who actually HAVE bipolar disorder say that they just don't take it for one night, and can drink as much as they want.

I don't ever get sloppy drunk (because that's dangerous with or without meds), but is getting tipsy ok? I don't drink liquor, usually just stick to beer such as yuengling or something like that.

Opinions/ experiences/ advice?

I have experience and as long as you dont take it at the same time then you will be fine. Wait to sober up then take the meds. Basially wait until you are ok to drive then you can take the meds. If it is too late by then then just skip it for the night if you drink take them around the same time then you will feel dizzy

Can I take them earlier in the day? Or is that the same as taking them with the alcohol?

Honestly, I don't drink because it screws with my meds so badly. I drank 3 smirnoffs and I was so out of it the next day. Maybe you'll have a different experience but be warned that it can mess with you very badly.
