Do You.....

Do you use a cutting board when you cut up chicken or do anything with chicken or do you use a plate? We use a plate cause its really hard to get cutting boards clean when we put chicken on them. So I was just curious as to what other people did.

I've been vegetarian for 15 years, and currently switching to vegan. But I know cutting boards can really hold onto bacteria... so I try to keep mine clean.

I avoid using wood cutting boards, stick to plastic. I only have 1 and use it for everything, wash it immediately, and don't have any issues. I don't have a very sensitive tummy, though :)

I use a cutting board to cut meat and wash it immediately with hot water (I don't have a dishwasher). I try to keep a separate cutting board for non-meat items, but it doesn't always work out that way and I've personally never had a problem.

souvenirdarling The wood cutting boards thing is a bit of a myth. They don't hold onto any more bacteria than plastic, plus they wash up easily and if you care for them, they last a lifetime.

I almost always use a plate for meat, but I do have a glass cutting board that I use occasionally. I reserve my bamboo cutting boards for everything else.

I second keeping a separate cutting board for meat...I just label mine with a permanent marker.
