flower welcome!! You have done so well so far!! I am really excited to get down to your current weight! About how long did it take you to get here?

mara I love your attitude, great job committing to getting back on track. You've got this!!

wannabehealthy how have you been doing?

I weighed in at 173.6 today which is crazy since 2 days ago I was up to 178.2. I can tell that I am still a little bit bloated though. I have been chugging water like nobodies business and it seems to be helping!!

Hi Folks,

Glad to start the challenge in a new year. I expect to reach goal this year. It feels great. I am not a big weigher but like to post my exercise daily minutes and body fat percentage. I do my body fat percentage on a monthy basis. My goal is to exercise at least 60 minutes a day and get my body fat percentage to the mid 20%. Looking forward to seeing everybody's progress!!!

Hi Activeadventurer. Good to see you joining in. Your goal is valid, It doesn't have to be a weight goal. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Kfunk, I have not weighed since Sunday. I plan on weighing once a week. It has it's disadvantages, because if you weigh daily you can see if you are progressing or not, but the fluctuations bother me. I feel as though my eating has improved, though. I do need to increase my water. You have had great success so far.

Kfunk: thanks and good to see you in this challenge Will you rejoin the 2% challenge? In answer to your question, I started my weight loss journey at about 165 lbs in Jan 2016 and lost 40 pounds in 8 months and got to my goal of 125 in August 2016. I kept it off for a year and felt great. Then from about August 2017 to December, I gained about 15 pounds back. I was very disappointed in myself and here I am trying to lose the 15 I gained. I definitely don't want this to happen again as it is hard work to lose the weight. I struggle with depression and in about August my depression kicked in again and it was difficult for me to stay motivated to exercise and eat properly - hence the weight gain. I need to deal with my depression without it affecting me in this way so I'm working on this. I removed gluten and processed food from my diet as well as sugar with the exception of fruit. I'm working on getting back to this way of eating as it
works well for me. Removing the sugar helped with my cravings. You are doing fantastic and have lost a lot of weight which is very inspiring.

Activeadventurer - welcome

Wannabehealthy: I also find that my weight fluctuations can have an effect on me when I weigh every day. Now I weigh a few days in a row and then take a break for a day or two. I need to increase my water too.

flower Yep, I will do that as soon as I am done posting here!! It is really, really commendable that you are taking control now before your 15 lbs. turns back into 40. I have never been able to do that in the past, but watching people do that is great motivation for me! I am sorry to hear about your depression, it is really difficult and I don't think people who haven't suffered from it understand how debilitating it can be I hope you find relief soon.

I also have removed gluten from my diet, but do have occasions where I will eat it (but then be stuck feeling like crap for a few days so its not worth it). I should really look at eliminating sugar as well, I think that would be very beneficial! Thank you for your kind words, you are also very inspiring!!

active welcome!! I really like your goals. I would love to get my body fat % down. I should research and figure out what the range should be and shoot for that. I have pants that fit that I wore in HS, but I know that I have WAY more body fat this time around, especially in my stomach. I also really love your exercise goal!!

Wannabehealthy I change my mind every week it seems on if I want to weigh in daily or if I should go to weekly weigh ins. I have been using Wednesday as my official weigh in day and then sneaking a peak a couple other times per week. The daily fluctuations are frustrating when I have been on plan! That is awesome that you are doing well with what you are eating! It is hard for me to get my water in, but I try to set goals for myself and that competitiveness helps me!

Kfunk, it's the competitiveness that does me in! As soon as I look at it that way I feel that others are getting ahead of me so I quit, because I never feel that I can measure up. I have to learn to just set goals for myself at my own speed, which is slow, and be happy for other for their successes.

I'm ok drinking water at home, but when I'm out, I hate running for restrooms all the time. LOL

wannabehealthy That is so important that you realize that in yourself and are able to set goals as an individual. Slow and steady is working well for me, I feel like I would have burned out by now had I not.

I am the same way about water!! I do great when I am at work, but when I am at home on the weekends I have a very hard time because we are on the go and don't like having to stop at a bunch of places to use their restrooms!

Not a good week. Up 2 lbs. I knew I wasn't eating right and I don't know why. I will do better this week, and just might weigh-in every day and see how that works for me.

Hi Folks,

36 minutes a day of exercise this week. Well below my goal but in line with recommendations by my PT for recovering from my current hip pain. I joined WW last week and had 79 fit points but am not really sure what that means.

Flowers and Kfunk we have very similar eating plans and I know all about depression. Thanks for sharing

carol I hope that you have a great week!! Hopefully weighing in daily will help!

activeadventurer 36 minutes is wonderful, especially given the hip pain that you are dealing with. I hope that your PT helps get you comfortable! Are you doing the WW freestyle program?? I have heard many great things about it, I really enjoyed WW! Did you watch the Vikes game last night? I can't even believe it ended the way it did, crazy!!!

shea great job last week!! I know from experience that it is difficult transitioning to a new job, but it looks like you are going to do great! I went from an active job to a desk job back in 2015 and ended up gaining 70 lbs that first year. UGH. I wish I would have stopped and done something about it right away!

Activeadventurer WW Fit Points are extra points you get based on your exercise to use if you need them or not use if you don't want to. I would just go according to your hunger. If you can use them and still lose weight, go for it. If you decide not to use them, you will probably lose faster.

KFunk, so far the daily weighing is going well for me. I am down another pound this morning, so I'm back to where I started. I am watching my calories and carbs more closely and drinking my water. Being in these challenges seems to be helping me this time.

Ally, I was disappointed for my Steelers on Sunday. Out of the playoffs. DH had the Minnesota game on and I did get to see the exciting end! That was unbelievable! The players seemed to be shocked themselves and were running around the field, so excited. I was happy for them. Those are the things that make the games exciting.

Activeadventurer, I see you are from Minnesota, too. Did you watch the game?

Hi Folks,

Kfunk and Wannabehealthy I feel like the only person in Minnesota who did not watch the game! I did not even know there was a game to watch! I restarted graduate school last week and was pretty single minded in my focus. I will be more prepared this Sunday. I am pretty stressed out about the Super Bowl in general. I live 3 blocks from the stadium! It would help make the stress more worthwhile if the Vikings were in it!

Wannabehealthy Thanks for the heads up on Fit points. I was wondering why my points changed on the app after a few days.

Shea5, flower1 and the above others Congratulations on the nice weight losses. Bravo!
