mara Determination goes a very long way with losing weight, and patience lol. I have tried to lose weight for the past 15+ years and I have always given up and gained everything back. This time I stopped trying to slap a timeline to my loss and have gone off track more times than I can count, but have never given up. It is taking me longer than I had originally planned, but it is okay because it is working this time!!
WannaBeHealthy I lost my initial 60lbs using Medifast. I switched to NOOM in October and pretty much maintained through the holidays which for me was a huge NSV. I'm following the NOOM program which uses a lot of psychological exercises and coaching. I aim for 1400 calories a day, make sure I get a 30 minute walk daily at a minimum. I've just started practicing yoga and am reintroducing running as I continue to lose.

I had to google NOOM to see what it was. Never heard of it. Glad to hear it's working for you. I try to stay low carb because of my diabetes, but I think I need to start logging so I can count calories. I can usually lose if I stay under 1500.

I am trying to practice what I preach.....show up either way, good or bad, and it's NOT good. I am up 3 lbs. Really, I'm not surprised. I know I was not eating right this past week. I guess I expected a miracle. Back on track now, starting today.
I just got on the scale again and now I'm only up 2 lbs, so I'm taking that number. LOL Why make it worse than it already is? No one is going to look at me and say "She gained weight." LOL But seriously, I want this to be the year that someone says that I lost weight. I'm wondering who that person will be. I know it won't be DH. He would tell me if I gained, but he isn't into giving compliments. One time when I lost weight before he told my friend that he won't tell me because then I'll think I don't have to try anymore. So, did he think she was not going to tell me he said that? LOL I'm thinking it will be my daughter in law who comments first.

Carol: Of course you can call me Maggie, Carol.
I struggled this week, too, but managed to get back down to where I was last Sunday, so that's pretty good. You have a similar starting weight to me, and I think for me I was about halfway between overweight and obese before anyone noticed anything (except my mother, who noticed like 15 lbs earlier than that). You'll get there.
Although frankly I haven't had as many comments said directly to me because I was skinny my whole life until somewhat recently, so people see my weight loss more as getting back to where I always was, I think. They tend to be like, "Thank god she's fixing her weight gain." Which is so complimentary...
It's probably different than if I had been heavy for a long time.
kfunk: Going pretty good, though I struggled this week. Still did OK in the end. I'm trying not to get too impatient to be 'normal' again. How about you? I know the holidays were really busy for you, and hectic food-wise. Hopefully it's a bit smoother sailing now (though if you're like me it's not so much!).

Joining in late... thanks for starting this challenge VickieLou.
Currently, my goal is to lose 6 pounds/month in Jan/Feb/March, 5 pounds/month in April/May/June, 4 pounds/month in July/Aug/Sept and 3 pounds/month in Oct/Nov/Dec to reach my goal of 148 by the end of the year. Plans are subject to change, depending on how I feel as the weight comes off... I'm mainly concerned about getting back to a *healthy* weight, which would be 158 or less.

Great to have you here, Gail. Good goals!
Maggie, in 2012 I was around the same weight, but had a rough surgery that caused a weight loss of about 20 lbs. People commented on that, so I guess that was enough to be noticeable. Because the loss was from sickness and not trying, it all came back on as I started to feel better. I hope to do it again without being sick.
wannabehealthy I hope that you are able to get rid of the 2 lbs. very soon. You will get there, this is your year!!! When I got down to about 190 I had people commenting left and right.
chanticleer I am sorry to hear that you struggled this week, but it is awesome that you got back to where you were last week! I had a good week and hope that the momentum builds into next. I probably wont lose anything this week, but if I am good I will maintain. My weight loss patterns are so weird!! I have a hard time staying patient, but realize that I have no other choice.
gail welcome to the thread! I like the way you staggered your monthly weight loss goals!!
Not the stellar week I was hoping for, but a loss is a loss. It was a weird week with the scale bumping up every other day. That isn't usually how my numbers look, I usually have a steady downward trend except for TOM.
I'm going to try to up my exercise starting this week so hopefully that will make a difference.
kfunk ~ Awesome Loss this week!
Gail ~ Welcome! Good luck with your goals, they seem totally doable.
Wannabehealthy ~ Chin up. Good for you for getting back on track and sticking with posting. It really helps... I know from personal experience.
Chanticleer ~ Good for you for getting back on track and keeping your progress. Hope you have a better week.
Laura! ~ Glad to see you here. We were posting in the same 250's and 240's threads last year before I completely lost my mind and well... you see where I'm at now. Glad to see you've continued to stay on track.
Hope everyone has a great week!

I updated my original post. They are doing a healthy lifestyle program at work and we got weighed, measured, etc. My weight was alot higher than on the other scale I was using. Going to use the one they brought in since it is a higher weight and will be taking our weight/measurements every week.
