Sorry I've been MIA lately - last week and this week have been busy with my mom's move. I hope things can get back to normal now, including exercise. I got 10,307 steps Wednesday & 9,154 steps yesterday. Pretty high for me lately. I'm still dealing with a foot issue.
Great steps for both LM & Zeta!! Keep up the good work.
I'm back from the farm. I worked this weekend but forgot to get my fitbit (I packed it and took it, but barely wore it) out and put it on.
Are you all ready for cold weather outdoor activity? Actually, I've read that exercising in the cold increases calorie burning because your are burning calories for warmth as well! BONUS!
I figure we should get a head start NOW. Let's not wait until January 1 and the inevitable New Years Resolution! We could be a quarter of the way to where we want to be instead of just getting started!
LM - I'm game! I'm now walking between home and the train station, as well as between the train station & the office. This comes out to just over 2 miles each day. I can get more steps if I walk a bit st lunchtime, or less when I get picked up or dropped off. Right now when it's still decent weather, I'll try to walk more.
Friday 5,186 (vacation day, no commute steps)
Saturday 3,775 - typical for the weekend
Sunday 513 (forgot to wear my pedometer most of the day )
Monday - 7,195 ( got picked up from the train)
I didn't get my fitbit out, but I DID manage to eat reasonable portions. I'm going to do the dishes and head out for an evening walk. I am glad you are able to get more steps in. I went from 178.0 yesterday morning to 177.2 today. I'm glad I resisted the urge for that 2nd plate of supper last night!
I know we can make great progress between now and Dec. 31st if we decide to just do it....
I'm excited to see where the journey brings us....
So now that I'm back to walking with my pedometer instead of my fitbit (lost many months ago), it seems my step counts are lower. Which gadget is more accurate?? I guss it's not all that important as long as whatever I use keeps me motivated. The fact that the steps don't seem to come as easy with my pedometer probably motivates me more than the fitbit because the fitbit registered more than just real walking steps as movement.
Been quiet here. I hope you're all doing well and are keeping up with your step goals.
Laura: I know my fitbit One is pretty accurate. I measured a 5K (3.1 miles) in my Jeep for reference to train for a 5k. The Jeep odometer flipped to 3.1 miles a block or so from home. I walked the course afterward, and the fitbit read almost 3.2 miles when I got to my driveway.
I was 174# Friday, 175# today. I drank a quart of V8 juice yesterday, so I'm thinking it's probably water weight related to the sodium.
Aargh. Can't seem to get here lately. My steps have been so erratic. My foot issue is still going on, but I finally went to a new foot doctor yesterday & I have an rx waiting for me to pick up today. Fingers it works!
Supposed to be off my feet, but steps were 4,,480 yesterday & are at 5,712 today at the time of this post. Today was grocery shopping & a bit of snow shoveling. So much for doctor's orders...though I am taking the rx.
Hi all! I'm reviving this thread by asking if anyone would like to be my "friend" on FitBit? I personally love doing the daily, workweek, or weekend challenges on the FitBit app and am really pleased with myself when I manage to keep my step count on the higher end.
Currently I have very few friends on FitBit that are actually active, and even fewer that I know well enough to chat with/etc.
If anyone would like a new FitBit friend please let me know. I will share my email to be added.
Hi rustyl. I'd like to be your fitbit buddy, but I can't. I lost my fitbit a while back - 6 months ago? - and so I've been using my pedometer ever since. I've been watching my face book garage sale groups looking to buy one inexpensively. Haven't found one yet.
Ugh. Between holidays, my foot issue, and crummy weather, steps are pretty awful. My foot's still not 100%, but it's better than it was. Fingers the pain keeps fading..

Laura: How is your foot? I hope you are doing well. I have been sorta "bleh" lately, but am hoping to get plugged in and back at it! I am back up to the upper 170's, sigh, at one point I'd gotten down to the low 160's, but then developed either the "low carb flu" or maybe it was the Lyme disease I wasn't aware I had! LOL! I went to the doc because I was just exhausted, and he was looking back at labs from when I was hospitalized for a very slow, irregular heart rate, and he said, "Hmmm, you were positive for Lyme disease in 2014". Somehow, I never got the memo! LOL. That was probably 6 months or so ago. I haven't felt well in a very long time, but fake it til you make it, right?
Rusty: I would be happy to add you to my fitbit friend list. I have family, coworkers and a few 3fc folks on mine. I will message you my email address and you can invite me if you are still looking to add to your list!
Hello LM. My foot isn't 100% yet, but it's much better than it was. The foot doc has me on a arthritis rx for 30 days to hopefully wipe out the rest of the pain. Is there a treatment for Lyme disease? I hope you can shake it loose this year! As I recall you do a lot of walking on your job - do you just need to try and cut back on it to assist in your recovery??
Sprained my foot last Thursday. Got x-rays in ER (no broken bones), received crutches & one of those boots with the rigid sole & been trying to stay off my feet ever since. I'd say I've been successful based on my step count.
