Happy Mother's Day to the moms in our challenge! Extra hugs to tinajayne, TrayTeam, and any one else with mothers who are gone.
Welcome, chellewainwright! What's your goal for the rest of May? I'm a librarian, so I always have books to recommend. Recently, The Diet Fix by Yoni Freedhoff has been helpful. The book that first got me to stop with the secret eating was The End of Overeating by David Kessler -- it helped me identify which foods and behaviors were triggering my addictive tendencies and to eliminate them using some righteous indignation at the food industry.
berryblondeboys: 6.5 pounds in 5 days -- if you could bottle that and sell it, you'd make a fortune!
May goal: Log every day
1. 1570 calories
2. 1970 calories
3. 1920 calories
4. 1760 calories
5. 2030 calories
6: 2045 calories
7: 2020 calories
8: 2037 calories
9: 1955 calories
10: 2415 calories
Oops. Time to reverse this trend.

gardenerjoy - Righteous indignation as a weight-loss tool, I love it! Hahaha. The documentary Food Inc kind of did that for me. I've been eating a lot more garden produce and a lot less fast food, corn by-products, and crappy meat since watching it.

05/12: 228.9 (-4.1). This is how I know I'm carb sensitive. 1.4 pound gain from a slice of pie and a scoop of ice cream for Mother's Day. Calories for the day were around 1800, but it was a carb heavy day. My body just doesn't like (or likes too much) carb heavy foods.

May Goal: For 90 of the total 93 meals in May to be Perfectly On Plan, and everything I eat/drink photographed for my blog for accountability.
May 1: 3 of 3 meals on plan & pix in blog.
May 2: 3 of 3 meals on plan & pix in blog.
May 3: 3 of 3 meals on plan & pix in blog.
May 4: Ditto.
May 5: Ditto-arama.
May 6: Ditto-a-go-go.
May 7: Ditto-tastic.
May 8: Ditto- uh.... Just Ditto.
May 9: Ditto.
May 10: Ditto-palooza.
May 11: 2 meals out of 3 on plan; everything documented in blog.
Mother's Day apparently meant potato chips for moi. Can't quite say I regret them, though. So 1 of my 3 available off plan meals for the month is *poof*.

Well, I reversed the trend, but not by much! I think I can get lower than that number today, even with my birthday dinner out tonight. I'm going with seafood and salad.

I know... I wish it would stay that way, but I tend to have these cycles around my menstrual cycle that goes like this.
Days 1-8 - hold steady - or up and down a little.
Days 9-14 - slow and steady gain, with the last day being a big spike up for ovulation.
Days 15-16 - unpredictable - sometimes it hold steady, sometimes it starts to fall.
Days 17-24 - WHOOSH, first losing the gains for ovulation (2-4 pounds of water weight) and then all the weight I will lose for the month that will show up on the scale.
Days 25-27 - steady
Day 28 -perhaps a slight gain for my period.
Now... this was my pattern for years and years and years. THEN... I started dealing with perimenopause, so it happens some months and not other months. This unpredictability is not fun as I question more why I have gains or I'm not dropping!
I "think" I'm around day 24 now, but I don't track as well as I used to.

I let the weekend get the best of me. It was hard enough being mother's day weekend that I just let myself slide into some poor food choices.
I'm back on track today and hope to steer myself down. And hopefully a lot of this is just salt!
