I am very pleased I have been on this diet for one week and have lost 5 lb! I hope to lose 5 more this week. I am taking sunday off...Is that bad? comments would be welcome as long as they are not rude.
Healthytobe, everyone here is very nice so don't worry. Congrats on being 5 lbs down! That's fantastic! By the way, I tried to PM you in response to your introduction thread and it did not allow the PM to go through, so here is a link back to that thread: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/intr...hi-im-new.html. Luckily, you are a member of this challenge thread which I also belong to! Anyway, keep going! You are doing great! Oh, and I take a day off each week and it's been working great for me. I stressed out last week, but that was time-of-the-month (TOM) related, both physically and emotionally. So no, Sundays off are not bad as long as it works for you! I hope you do lose 5 more lbs this week, but don't become discouraged if you don't. Weight loss takes time and patience, and our weight tends to fluctuate naturally. We just have to keep plugging away at it.
healthytobe: we're rarely rude on this thread! Jacqui_D makes a cheat day work for her, so I'll be looking for her advice on how to manage one well. I find it easier to stay on course nearly all of the time because so many of the foods that I no longer eat are trigger foods. It's not worth it to me to have one day off if it means that I have cravings for a week or more -- or worse, that I actually end up off plan for weeks or months. My exceptions are for travel, but even there I'm still learning how to make that not derail me for a long time after the trip. I feel like I'm just now recovered from the aftermath of my France trip in June.
Edited to add: Jacqui_D is a fast responder!
My lowest weight since sometime in June -- woohoo!

I've been sick for about 2 weeks with a cold that then turned into bronchitis, so I've been losing weight rapidly due to no appetite this past week. Good news I'm almost at my goal weight.

183StGB: Glad to hear the mystery weight is disappearing quickly.
Sum: I think you’re now solidly in the 140’s.
Rhiko: It doesn’t matter where the whooshes come from, as long as they keep coming!
cincorn: I know it can be hard, but try to focus on the big picture. If you’ve lost 5 lbs this month, that’s more than 1.5 lbs per week, on average, which is a pretty decent average.
healthytobe: Congratulations on your initial 5 lb loss. Some of us have success with cheat days, others don’t. Best thing to do is give it a shot and see if it works for you…good luck!
stilettolife: Sorry to hear you’ve been ill, but glad your weight loss is progressing so well!
marymo: Good luck for your weigh in! I hope you’re rewarded for getting back on track.

healthytobe congrads on the 5lbs!
I didn't do a cheat day for the first 3months. I was really looking Forward to eating all the things I was craving on my birthday (Pizza, cake, chocolate, cheese fries...), but I would eat one Piece, and be like: this is good, but I'm full/had enough of that. I think Food really is addictive, and I guess distancing myself from it for a while helped me make smarter choices. But I still have "planned days off plan", I think it's legit.

Healthytobe, as Tuscany mentioned, cheat days work well for some people and not so well for others. I always gain .5 to 2.5 lbs the day after cheat day, but it's water weight and usually falls away in the next couple of days and then I keep losing. I never cheat on any day except cheat day, not even one bite. And I always go back to my diet after cheat day, without fail. But as GardenerJoy mentioned, for some people cheat day is a trigger that causes them to fall off the wagon, so it's a really bad idea for people whose hunger is stimulated by a cheat day to attempt them. And then as 183StGB mentioned, some people do well just having an occasional cheat day, not a weekly one, or even just a special cheat meal. They plan for it, and it works well for them because they are able to pick back up with their diets afterward. The only way for anyone to know if a cheat day will work for them is to try it. Do expect to gain water weight the day after any cheat day though!
Sum, looking good!
183, good luck with your classes! I hope you have a great day!
DCapulet, you are doing great! You're so close to goal! Woohoo!
Turtle, yay, I'm glad your back down! C'mon 158!
Tuscany, yay, goodbye 140's!
Marymo, good luck! I'm glad you are back on track!
Minneey, okay, time to have a beat down with pound #142!
Stiletto, oh no, I hope you are feeling better! I'm glad to see you losing weight but sickness is not the way! I'm wishing you well!
Joy, lol, I don't know how I sneaked in before you!
marymo: yay for getting back on track -- I really think that's the most valuable skill I learned in this version of weight loss. It's the reason that I was successful after almost two decades of not making it happen.
dcapulet: love that you saw 189.9. Sometimes the scale takes our goals SO literally.
