I’ve had this idea for myself for a while. I was always going to start it on the 1st of January but I thought maybe some of you might like to get involved.

The challenge is simple:
It is a year-long challenge in which you will commit yourself to one thing a day for the year and if you achieve this, you will put $1/£1/€1 away in a jar. By the end of the year you could save $/£/€365! The idea is that of all the hard work you did throughout the year, you will be able to reward yourself by the end of the year with something special – maybe a new outfit, spa day, getting your hair and nails done etc. The one commitment you pick can be whatever you like! E.g. Drink X litres of water a day, exercise each day, bring a home prepared lunch to work/college, eat 5 a day each day etc. If you want to do one thing for one month and do something for the next, you can if you like.

NOTES:
You can, of course, put whatever you like in a jar. I’ve just chosen €1.

My challenge is to drink between 1.5 – 2 litres of water each day. (for now, might change it during the year) For every day I succeed, €1 will be added to my jar. Each week I’ll come back and edit how much I have saved up in that week. At the end of the challenge, the money I have saved up will go towards the most recent iPhone released. (I’m sure we’ll have another out by the end of 2013!)

My challenge is to exercise 5 days a week each month, allowing two days a week for rest. For every week I succeed, $5 will be added to my savings.

Well, I didn't drink enough water yesterday but I did today so added my first €1! I hope it's one of many.

I actually had this idea to put one penny for every calorie burned each day in a jar. I do abut 800 a day, so that would be $8/day for me - and use that as doing something special for myself every time I reach a mini-goal. I might actually follow through with that one. I think it's a pretty good idea can get pretty pricey!

That's a good idea! It could get a bit pricey if you burn a lot of calories in a day.
