My current weight is 257.6. My goal for this challenge is 7.6 pounds. I'm getting aggressive with my goal. It's time to quit being so easy on myself with excuses and overeating...

I normally only weigh myself on Friday's but I cheated this morning and got on the scale...201.5! I'm not counting that as my official weigh in for the week, but it sure felt nice to see that - my lowest weight since i started losing, very exciting!

On the downside, I fell leaving a friend's house last night and may have sprained my ankle. Such a klutz! Still sore and only slightly swollen. I'll take (another) night off from the gym tonight or just focus on some upper body work, and hopefully will be healed up enough to get back on the elliptical tomorrow.

JazzyPeggy: Welcome! I've added you to the goal list below, and wish you lots of commitment this month!

Couch: Woohoo! Always a good feeling to see a new, lower number when you've been stuck for a bit!

lobon: Looks like a great loss so far! Let us know how the run goes; I've been dealing with some pain in my right knee, and I'm not quite sure what to do about it. In a week and a half I'll have to take at least 2 weeks off from any moderate or intense exercise, so I'm hoping that break will help.

aniela: Yay on the sneak weigh-in! I hope the number sticks or continues to go down. And I SO feel you on the ankle; I've sprained both of mine many times (and a few times pretty severely) over the years, and it's such a PITA to deal with! Ice and elevate, and take some ibuprofen for the tissue swelling.

My scale is finally going in the right direction, but after seeing 209 earlier this week, I'll be surprised if I make onederland as I'd hoped.

Still the exercise and calorie counting are both doing really well and all things considered, I'm on the right track.

chickadee, congrats! I'm quite jealous.

knobhdy, I like your attitude. Stick with it!

I'm still hanging around 144. I've been crazy hungry this week and just haven't been able to keep to my calorie budget. I'm torn between feeling I should be patient and feeling like I should push myself harder. I actually find it easier to eat less on the weekends, so maybe I'll get back on my plan.

knobhdy: I'm with Steph. You're losing, which is the biggest thing, and you know - if you don't make onederland this month, you will surely make it next month! You're doing great; keep it up.

Steph: Thanks! The number jumped back up again, as it often seems to... I'll hit a new low, but then it seems to take my body another week or two to want to stay there. I know what you mean about those hungry weeks - they are ROUGH, especially when you're trying to lose those last few lbs and the going seems so slow. The thing that seems to have helped me lately with those is getting in more protein; I find I'm less hungry when I'm eating 100g + per day. Just an idea!

lulu: You're almost to goal this month already!! Awesome job!!

nicolae: Woohoo, nice losses so far! You're totally on track for the month.

Painted: I feel you, but it's still coming off even if it feels like it's at a snail's pace... I know you'll get there!

So, I made some cupcakes last night for my friend and sister in law for mother's day, and I left room in my calorie budget because I KNEW I would be licking and tasting, and oh boy, did I ever. I made this vanilla cream cheese frosting that was amazing, and I LOVE frosting, and I ate WAY TOO MUCH of it while I was frosting the cupcakes!! I calculated out the calories from my recipes, and I went over the upper end of my daily calorie limit by about 250 with that frosting, which thankfully is only about 50 calories above what I estimate to be my maintenance cals right now. Funny though, I don't even feel guilty; that frosting was totally worth it, lol, and I pretty much never do stuff like that.

It's hard to see the two different colors in the frosting, but these are the cupcakes. They're supposed to look a little like hydrangeas.

those look great chickadee!
i've been having a rough month food wise.. eating off plan at least every 3 days. i have been doing a great job with strength training and working out though. i've been doing jillian michaels ripped in 30 and i am SORE! I've also been doing 30 minutes of running a day and lifting weights 3 times a week. unfortunately there hasn't been any weight loss. actually, i can't be sure of that because i am too afraid to look at the scale because of how poorly i've been eating.

Great cupcakes chickadee! Love the frosting colors!

Once again I've only lost 0.5 this week, but a loss is a loss no matter how small. My ankle is finally on the mend so I can get back to the gym this week...thank goodness! I got pretty lazy this week so it will be nice to get back to my routine. The warm weather is here, and that means there are so many more social obligations (that usually revolve around food!). I'm going to have to work so much harder during the week to make up for all of these busy weekends!!

chickadee, those cupcakes look fabulous! A young co-worker and I have been talking about taking some sort of cake decorating class because it looks like fun. And I hear ya on some calories being worth it. I went to a flea market last weekend at a local fairgrounds and had 2 straight-from-the-deep-fryer cinnamon sugar donuts. {{insert Homer Simpson drooling noise here}}

And thanks for the advice on protein. I've been trying to get more in my diet, using shakes and Atkins bars and chicken. I think it helps.

I saw 142 today - eek! I know I'll be up tomorrow but there might be hope for me making my goal this month.

Steph: That's good news on the scale!! I hope it stuck! My grandmother does a lot of cake decorating, and I've been thinking I should have her teach me a little... I remember her trying to show me how to do roses once, and I was terrible at it! It would be fun to try again though I think - I just have to avoid eating it all!

magsabags: Nice job on the exercise!! Maybe more protein would help for you as well? It definitely keeps me fuller and makes me less likely to snack, and it would be good anyway with all the weight training you're doing!

aniela: Great news on the ankle! I'm glad to hear it's healing up. I, too, find it hard to motivate to go back to the gym after being off for a week for whatever reason... but I definitely find that after a few days back I'm back in the groove again. I'm going to miss the gym next week when I have to stop going for a bit.
