Ahahahahahahaha...the good old days!

While Sarge would LOVE to continue the drama by challenging the BL thread, I think we should leave well enough alone. Our Boot Camp is successful because it attracts HARDCORE competitors and we get a new recruit or two every so often to keep things fresh. The BL thread has SO many participants at the beginning of the challenges and then it fizzles as the weeks go by because so many people drop out left and right. This last time around there were 80 participants at the beginning and only about 15 left at the end. Sarge's philosophy is generally if it ain't broke...don't fix it!

AND, as bizarre as it seems, our thread not only moves fast, but is starting to get about 6,000 views per week. I sincerely believe that most of the 3FC regulars lurk here on a daily basis.

But in a fun sort of way, imagine the taunting we could do...the hatred we could once again muster up! Hmmmmmm....Sarge is so immature!

Back for water and to cool off. It's only 88 out today. But by the time I put on jeans, a hat, and a respirator mask. And then get out in the sun and do physical work, it seems a lot hotter.

There's one big reason to keep the majority of the platoon away from the BL challenge.....we don't want to catch any failure cooties.

True, cooties-free-zone here! I just though we could see how we measure up to the teams. It might not be necessary since we rock anyways ;-) but I have no idea how we do percentage-wise...

Edit: Btw, I lost 25% of myself according to my weigh in on Sunday! Woohoo!

OMG PEANUTT!!!! Now that was LAUGH OUT LOUD FUNNY!

We'd need rubber gloves and Budget's respirator mask to deal with those "failure cooties!"

Josey -- 25% LESS JOSEY!!!!!! How cool is that! And btw, nothing says we can't have a special black ops team here on our thread and compare our loss percentages to theirs. It's not like Sarge doesn't spy on them or anything. I'll watch for their sign up date and when it begins.

Sarge done with daily workouts...adding 138 minutes to spreadsheet and grinding HARDCORE CHICK into the ground with my combat boot.

Maybe Anon can weigh in on whether or not it would be simple for her to add a way to track weekly percentage lost on the spreadsheet. We would have to be entering our actual weight from week to week in the sheet, but then the magical spreadsheet formula gnomes would do the rest of the work. Then we could really clearly see how awesome we are as a BLACK TEAM.

Spoiler alert: We're really awesome and would likely whup the challenge teams weekly.

Yay, Josey!

It has been a good, good day for me.

Anybody know anything about the Crossfit franchise? It is kind of expensive compared to other gyms, but it's the closest to me. And, frankly, it looks a lot more exciting and 'programmed' than the next closest gyms. I've gotten the good news that I'm getting a little raise at work. My coworkers are already *****ing about the size of it, and I'm thinking 1) they have crappy attitudes given that last week we didn't think there would be any raises and 2) with what I'm saving by not eating out and the little raise, I could afford the Crossfit membership.

Crossfit is something that I've looked into briefly. DH is actually starting a trial membership right now. I think the constant element of competition (vs. others and yourself) is something that would be fun. The biggest thing I learned was that not all Crossfit facilities are created equal. Some are really catering to the experienced group of users that have been working out together for years and don't have much support for newcomers. Others have specific beginner programs that can introduce the whole system and exercises. I'd definitely visit the facility and see their beginner training class in progress before jumping in.

Thanks for the input, peanutt. This one does have what they call a community workout, where you can go and try it free and ask questions, etc. So, I will be attending that, possibly this Saturday. Depends how alive I feel after working all night Friday night.

They also have a Foundations class for new people and a weight loss boot camp. Aside from the financial issue, which seems to have solved itself, I think part of me was waiting to lose some more weight before going to a gym. A little backwards in my thinking, there, I think.

I don't need a gym. I can keep doing my strength training at home and walking and my many yard projects. But I think the right gym would be very helpful to me.

I guess what appeals to me most about the Crossfit vs the cheaper gym is that they actually encourage women to lift heavy weights and do hard skills. That and the mix of activities and inclusion of gymnastics. As I get back into being more physically active, I'm realizing how much I miss it. I wasn't always fat. When I was young, I did gymnastics to an intermediate sort of level, did dance classes, played multiple sports (badly but with great enjoyment). As to how I got from there to here, lots of bad choices one after the other for many years.

I'm turning 41 soon. By the time I turn 42, I want to be the chick climbing up the rope again. And I really do want my mountain bike and to be able to keep up with the other riders.

Evening to all! Stayed OP today for breakfast and lunch. I got a soy protein dietary supplement from the health food store to help supplement my protein intake. I think I am going to try mixing it with my coffee in the morning (it's vanilla) instead of my creamer (less fat, more protein). In my head, it means I get 24 grams of protein with my coffee. I made some whole grain pasta with stroganoff minus the sour cream for dinner. I think I am around 1400 calories today...so an improvement over recent days. Hopefully the protein boost will help things along. I read somewhere that the body stores extra protein as fat but that goes against everything I learned in the racehorse industry. Horses pee out their excess protein...it makes the shavings red. Anybody care to weigh in on that?

More calories than your body needs will turn to fat no matter what they're made of.

But some foods are a little harder for the body to digest and absorb. I'm convinced, not just from what I've read, but from what I've observed in my own body, that whole fruits and vegetables and whole grains, don't get stored by the body as easily as processed flours and sugars.
