I went to Walmart to get the 30 day shred. They didn't have it. Anyone else know where to go--prefer not to purchase on internet.

I found parts one and two on the Free On Demand. I was skeptical since it was only 20 minutes but it kicked my butt for that 20 minutes.

Also, where should I measure for waist? I found a page on the internet that said you should measure where your elbows fall on your body. Does that seem right? I hope so because if I measure at belly button my inches go way up!

I want to join in. I'll measure myself tonight or tomorrow morning. I've never measured myself either, so this should be interesting to see how it goes. Can't wait to see the results!

I've never heard of measuring your waist at elbow height. I measure at the smallest part (where it indents), and also at the belly button (which measure around 5 inches more around than the waist). The lower measurement is what I'm most interested in right now - it's where I have more fat to lose, and where the waist of my pants hit (my real waist is high). It's what's messing up my profile from the side. But I can't let go of the waist measurement - I've been more fixated on that all my life . And I do have upper abdominal fat that I think I will start losing any day now!

Target sells the shred, but I found it cheaper at Best Buy.

How often should we measure?

I measure my waist around the belly button, and that also happens to be the smallest point of my mid-section. I think my elbows fall a little higher than that point I think what matters is that you know where you measured so that you hit the same spot each time you update. It doesn't have to be exactly the same point for everyone.

I finally measured myself this morning...here are the results

Upper Chest - 39.5
Bust - 43.25
Midriff - 38.25
Waist - 40.25
L/R Arms - 14.5
Hips 47
Right Thigh - 28
Left Thigh - 28.5
Right Calf - 17.5
Left Calf - 17

I hope I measured right. It will be fun to see how much of a difference it will be in the next week or so. Hopefully when I measure again it will be in the same spot. Good Luck everyone!

I dont know how often I am supposed to measure. How long does it take for your body to change? I think I am going to measure with my weekly weigh in. If that doesnt show much difference, then maybe I will do every two weeks.

Keep up all the good work guys! Hopefully there will be less of us by the new year. My birthday is in January and it would be nice to get some new smaller clothes. (I will be turning 21! Yay!)

Hey All! I want to join in too, okay? I'm doing JM's 30DS too

I have always heard that you should measure your waist at the narrowest part of your waist. If you are interested in measuring across the widest part of your waist you can do that, too, but the narrowest part of your torso is considered the natural waist.

I will post my measurements tomorrow, on the 30DS I have lost several inches all over.

My birthday is in January, too, the end of the month. I really want to feel good about myself when I get to buy a couple birthday outfits!

I'll post my measurements on Monday mornings, if that's all right with ya'll!

Ack, I totally thought this thread had died. I guess I forgot to subscribe to my own thread.

Anyways, I just recently lazed for about two weeks and now I'm back on track. I bought a gym membership and I'm planning on doing workout videos as well.

I've found that doing intense workouts like that from JM 30 Day Shred can show inches lost after only 5 days. Myself, I lost 1.5-2 inches in my waist area after 15 days of doing the Shred. I lost close to nothing (or nothing) from my lower body during that time too. It just depends on your body.

I redid my measurements before I started my gym membership on Saturday. Some are up slightly and others are about the same. Luckily nothing grew more than half an inch and nothing is larger than when I first started exercising at the beginning of October.

I'm still going to stand by my goal for -20 inches. We've got 6 weeks and I totally think it's doable.

As for measuring my belly, I measure the smallest part of my mid-section and call that my waist and the largest part of my mid-section and call that my belly. For me, my waist just below my ribs, about 2 inches above my belly button and my belly is about 2 inches below my belly button.

I'm glad this group took off after all. When left to my own devices, I tend to cheat and fail. When I know others are out there going through the same thing, I am more likely to stick with it.

Here's my 4 week update:

Area - Oct 26 - Nov 23 - Difference

Bust - 39 - 40 - (+1)
Chest - 35.75 - 35.5 - (-.5)
Waist - 33.5 - 32.75 - (-.75)
Stomach - 40.25 - 40.25 (0)
Hips - 46.75 - 45.25 - (-1.5)
Thighs - 27.5 - 26.5 - (-1)
Knees - 17.5 - 17.5 - (0)
Calves - 15.5 - 15 - (-.5)
Upper Arm - 13.5 - 13 (-.5)
Forearm - 9.75 - 10 - (+.25)

Total Losses: - 4.75
Total Gains: +1.25
Overall: -3.5
Weight then: 163.9
Weight now: 163.9

Well, not really on track to lose 20 inches by New Year's but I also had two weeks of no diet/no exercise in there so... I'm happy with my losses.

How about the rest of you? Want to check in?

I'd like to join in as well. I like the progress I am making on the scale, but I think inches are more important! I want to be in smaller clothing sizes (I'm in a 12/L bottom, 8/M top right now...total pear!) by New Years!

I will measure tomorrow morning.
