I downloaded the book yesterday based on this thread and found it very useful. I managed to go more than two years binge free and lose 110 lbs in the process. I thought I was "cured" at the time, but eventually went back to it.
I very much related to this author's ideas. For me also, the big problem with bingeing is the craving itself. I have had several periods in my life when I was basically "cured" of bingeing. Once, was when I was living overseas in a 3rd world country and simply didn't have access to any of the kinds of binge foods I was used to. I actually "tried" to keep bingeing for a while-- but without easily palatable high calorie foods around, I eventually just quit... at first I used to binge only when I went to a city and was around candy and chocolate and things-- and then eventually I just lost interest and quit altogether. Unfortunately, when I moved back home and though I could handle myself around food, I started bingeing again.
The second time I quit bingeing was from 2009-2012 when I lost 110 lbs. I didn't even feel a strong urge to binge.
I think maybe if I can follow her ideas and come up with a very specific way to deal with the cravings, this will work for me.
Right now, I'm not having any urges to binge so it's hard for me to know.
