Default Alcohol success!

Just wanted to post and say for the first time ever I went out last night and successfully managed not to drink a single drop of alcohol and i still had a good night! Feeling pretty pleased with myself so thought I'd shared baby steps!

Good for you! I find that's one of the harder things about trying to lose weight. When your friends do everything the same, it's hard to change your behavior when you're around them. I'm struggling with that right now. Recently I was around a lot of them drinking beer and eating wings and pigs in the blanket while watching a football game. I felt soooo out of place because I couldn't drink or eat what they were eating. I was salivating over the food. I finally just got up and left because I couldn't face it anymore and then of course got home and had a depression spell because I felt like my life was being deprived by trying to lose weight and I'd never be able to hang out with my friends again.

So I'm impressed that you've had a good night. I want to get to the point where it doesn't bother me to be with my friends yet still keep on my plan. I'm not there yet. :-) But you've let me know that it's possible.

It's definitely a problem- peer pressure is unimaginably strong and I actually lied when they asked what I was drinking and said I had vodka lemonade (I had tap water with ice and lemon)! But you do get a bit of a boost doing things your way and trust me, if the company is good and so is the place, it really is possible to still have a good night. I've tried before and failed but this time I tried going with a different mindset (eg/ I WILL have a good night as opposed to "I can't drink, I'm not gonna have fun)

Give it a go, I'm sure you can do it!

Congrats to you. Sometimes I ask for just diet coke in one of the glasses that they serve alcohol in. That usually prevents people from asking me why I'm not drinking.....

Good job!

Peachy: Congratulations. The actual NOT drinking was probably easy, the hard part was putting your mind to going out and not drinking. Kudos to you!

Nice work!!! That is the the biggest thing I struggle with ( minus the food). I find when I do not drink I make much better choices! Congrats again!!!

That is great. Good for you!! My biggest struggle is that I like my wine, so I get where you are coming from...

Way to go! I'm surprised at the difference on the scale when I do indulge in drinks so I'm trying to resist wine when we're out for date night. Had a white rum and coke zero with our dinner out last night.
