Default Wow.

I literally just about had a fit over some Arby's curly fries that my coworker brought back from lunch and THREW AWAY. they are in the trash. So now I'm hungry for them and grossed out that I would want to get them out of the trash to eat them. I moved them to the trash can outside and now I'm eating almonds. I just needed to get it off my chest that I had that reaction to french fries.

I totally get it. If I see or smell a food it can set off such a craving that it makes me feel crazy! You're definitely not alone. You did the right thing by throwing them out to the trash outside and eating almonds. You should be very proud of yourself! If the craving still persists, then maybe you could make some baked fries? Sometimes those really do the trick for me......but I have to be careful with those as well cuz I have little control over just about any kind of potato.

I have had that happen to me too. I have been to holiday dinners, ate according to my plan, felt fine saying no to all the desserts, only to find a bizarre reaction driving home and suddenly wanting to binge. The intensity of the urge surprises me.

Huge kudos for moving them elsewhere and then eating a healthy snack instead!

Those fries have a team of scientist behind them to optimize their fat, sugar and salt content to have the most addictive aroma when par fried (yes friend twice, once at the factory and again at Arbys!).

Having the reaction feels horrible, because it is stressful.

But you handled it soooo well. You rock!

Congratulations!!! Getting the offending temptation out of sight but ESPECIALLY finding a good substitute that you could eat and venting was the perfect intervention.
I find that (like most addicts), I fail when a certain trigger food crosses my path UNEXPECTEDLY ; when it is "presented" by people who love me and know of my problem. The combination often sends me over the edge. Temptation + anger/frustration = the start of a binge (for me).

I had an office mate that would eat fast food like 2-3 times a week. Ugh the smell was just so bad to be around. Luckily, I moved floors to be closer to my team so now I don't have to deal with that.

Yay for almonds.

Great job. I know how bad it can be to be triggered into a binge by the smell or look of foods ... especially curly fries. Mmm. Who could throw away those?

Thin people can throw out a lot of food. It's probably a good way to be.

And congratulations on turning to your almonds! Did you know that almonds work like antacids? Just eating 4 after each meal will stop acid indigestion.

I don't have to take Tums anymore, and the almonds have the added benefit of vitamins and minerals.

When I buy cookies I eat just four and throw the rest away.
But first I spray them with Raid so I won't dig them out of the garbage later.
Be careful, though, because that Raid really doesn't taste that bad.

Timing of me reading this post is ironic. I never, ever go to Arby's. I'm not a roast beef kinda girl. But my bf and I went last night and he got these god forsaken fries. He got up to refill his drink and it took everything inside me NOT to reach over my salad and grab a handful. Thankfully I resisted but I have been in your position where I wasn't above grabbing something out of the garbage that I threw away to stop tempting me. Now, before I throw anything tempting away, I sabatoge it by running water over it or sprinkling it with pepper or whatever.

Darn those Arby fries! But congrats to both of us for resisting!
