I highly suggest that you examine the emotional component in addition to finding new behaviors to cope.

Like you, I have dealt with binge eating my entire life.

Although I didnt seek out an eating disorder specialist, finding people to talk to about my emotional traumas and issues and helped me recognize what started the food addiction in the first place. That wasnt a magical fix to the binges, but the perspective allowed me to at least discontinue and cope with my root issues.

For the actual behavior of binges, all people are different but I find it takes a methodical approach of very clean eating and no food kept in the house (with reinforcement of healthy behavior thru exercise) to get me into remission.

No matter what, keep trying. You can get better.

I also struggle with overeating for no real reason and two things that are working for me are food journaling in some way so that I have to write down everything I eat. This helps me stay aware of how much I am really eating. I also don't keep foods that I would traditionally binge on in the house. No chips, no soda, no sweets so they are not around for me to eat. If I end up over eating on veggies its not the end of the world. And when I really want something that I don't keep in the house I go out and get one single serving of it.

This may be more difficult depending on who you live with.
Ahhhh that is the key. my dear hubby who does the food shopping and most of the cooking brings in junk food all the time. The biggest problem is I'm the one who eatsit. I inhale junk food like a vaccuum. chips, danish, salty and chocolate is my weakness. I think writing downd what i eat would really help me. I even bought a small notebook last year to sart. I also have the. LOSE IT app. But guess what none of thT is doing me any good if I dont use them..

Hi ladies, one of the ways i find keeps me from eating the wrong things for starters is that i wont allow anything i cant have in the house, the whole family benefits from healthy eating, so if its not healthy its not allowed thus keeps me from binging and the fmaily from eating unhealthy, Next i use intuituve eating, if my stomach is growling i eat what I want, i just ask myself frst is this good for me or not. If its not and i really still want it, i measure an amount out and have a portion for me and then eat until im satisfied not necessarily full but had enough to quench the craving. If my stomachis not physically growling then i know my craving is head hunger and i find an activity to do and have some water with lemon or a hot cup of herbal tea, and most of the time if its not good its not in the house i have to go out and get it then find a child size or appetizer portion so i HAVE to really want it to go through all those steps. I no longer have a reserve cabinet of what i cant have to immediatly run to.
