  • Wooot! Day 2 binge free! I CAN win this battle!!!
  • Yes you can!

(I play violin too - what's your favorite piece to play? I LOVE anything "schmoltzy" and Hebrew/Jewish/Yiddish-sounding)

Day 2 is going to be fine, I can tell already.
  • Day 3... So far, so good!
  • Great job everyone!

I have to say, the improving weather is definitely lifting my spirits. Maybe it's not a coincidence that my bingeing really got out of control in November. I'm hoping beyond hope that our move to San Diego comes through -- NO MORE WINTERS!

So Day 12 is in the books and I'm feeling strong!
  • Day 9
  • thesame7lbs, I hope you can move to San Diego. I went there every year when I was growing up and without fail the week or two I spent there was always the highlight of the entire year!
  • Day 4, check!

Yummy healthy dinner, a long talk on the phone with my sister, all is good.

Thanks to everyone on this group for sharing your journeys. I am glad that you will be there when the harder days come. We can do it together!

PS I play the violin too. Maybe there's a cellist out there too to complete the quartet....
  • Day 1 is under my belt. My willpower was shaky to say the least. Thankfully, we have nothing in the house for me to binge on. All my triggers are gone, and after a long talk with the hubby, we successfully did our grocery shopping without either one of us giving in and getting ANYTHING junky, processed or calorie dense/nutrient light.

I was totally going to binge, and realized there was NOTHING to binge on. I was almost relieved! Heck, I WAS relieved!!! I came in at 1390 calories today.
  • Now this sounds like a challenge I could really adopt. I gained 3 pounds in the past few days, which almost never happens to me. Binging along with a new medication is probably the culprit.

Today, I have not binged at all, but it's going to be tough all week since my dad made prime rib (and there's plenty leftover). Plus, we now have this huuuge and delicious cheesecake from the cheesecake factory AND an enormous jar of jellybeans. Living with the parents can get tough at times...

Before I go, I have a few questions for everyone here:

    1. At what point, in your opinion, does snacking become binging?

    2. What triggers you to binge, and how can you find out what it is?

    3. Do you believe it's beneficial to "treat" yourself every now and then like most people suggest, or do you find yourself having to go cold turkey on junk food to avoid binges?
  • new to everything

feeling dizzy whirling around this site.i think this group is a good fit.just joined and my only goal right now is to eat healthy and be binge free .i have alot more to lose than 15 lbs but will take it in doable steps (avoiding the whole feeling overwhelmed ...so far to go thing).take care everyone peggy
  • I would like to participate in this challenge. I've suffered from binge eating for over a year. I'm working hard to control how much I overeat, how many times I overeat, and what types of food I overeat on. It's ongoing.
Today was not a good day. Tomorrow will be better.

    1. It becomes binging when you want to stop but can't. There has to be a feeling of lost control or "ah f**k it I'll worry about it later" or a frantic/manic element for me to consider it binging.

    2. If I knew I would be less active in this forum. Having a bad day and being extremely bored are two situations where I consistently think "junk food would make this more bearable."

    3. If I go cold turkey, I binge. If I have occasional treats, I binge. If I'm not eating sugar, I'll binge on something ridiculous like kimchee or cheese.
  • day 32 completed yesterday. going out for a meal today but confident that I will make healthy choices, just need to go steady on the wine!!
  • Day 9 - SLEEPY, woke up at 3:15, lay in bed for 30 mins feeling restless and finally decided to get up and work on schoolwork, hopefully today won't be too hard considering I didn't get enough sleep and hopefully I'll be able to sleep well tonight.

Had a wonderful V-Day date with my fiance last night, overindulged a bit on froyo toppings but other than that stayed on plan, watched No Strings Attached and it was SUPER cute, loved getting caught up in the plot

Hope everyone has a beautiful,blessed,binge-free day
  • Day 2 effortlessly complete. Stayed on plan and got some very exciting groceries - oatmeal (finally spent the $7 that a box of 12 instant plain packets costs here), Celestial Seasonings "Bengal Spice" tea (I am having some now and upon tasting it I actually said "OOOH YEAHHH" out loud!), cheddar cheese, and some Dutch stroopwaffels (caramel syrup waffles) for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day.
